One can select and configure cameras for displaying in two ways:

  1. Separately. The settings panel for the Monitor object is in use.
  2. As a package. The Add/Edit Camera Objects dialog box is in use.

Note.

Order of selecting video cameras as a package to display in the Monitor interface box is described in Selecting and configuring video cameras as a package section.


To select video cameras on the settings panel of the Monitor object, do the following:

  1. Go to the List of cameras tab.
  2. Select the number of the required camera in the drop-down list of the Number column (1).

    Note.

     To select all the cameras, registered in the system, click the All button (2).
  3. As a result the name of the selected camera is automatically displayed in the Camera column (3).
  4. If multistream mode has been selected for a camera, in the Video stream drop-down list, select the number of the video stream that you want to display in the Monitor (4). If no stream is indicated, the default stream is used.

    Note.

    Configuration of Server video streams is described in the section Configuration of multistream video. The selected video stream is requested when receiving a video signal both from the Server and via the Videogate (see item 9).

  5. By default, the Video Surveillance Monitor receives a video stream through the Server. If it is necessary to get the video stream not through a Server, but from a camera directly, in the Connection drop-down list select Direct (5).
  6. If a video signal is to be thinned for its transmitting to the Monitor of the Client, then select the required frame rate of video signal in the drop-down list of the fps column (6). 

    Attention!

    It is strongly not recommended to use additional thinning and / or compression of video signal which is displayed on the Monitor of a Server as it will lead to additional spending of Server resources and deterioration of video quality.

    Note.

     The selected fps value is to be less than the frame rate for video digitising by a video capture card. Otherwise the frame rate of video signal will be the same as the fps of digitising.

    Note.

    For correct thinning of a video stream compressed with the help of H.264 or MPEG4 codecs, the fps value is to be equal to keyframe rate specified in the device (IP-camera) or INTELLECT settings (see Configuring video compression section).

    Note.

     Four streams for a chip are processed on SC300Q16 (FX4) video capture card. If the chip processes a stream without a signal (blue screen), then total fps is 10 (4 x 2,5fps) for one chip.
  7. If video compression level is to be changed for transmitting to the Monitor of the Client, select the required level of video signal compression in the drop-down list of the Compression column (7). Compression level is increased from 0 (no compression) to 5 (maximum compression).

    Note.

    If the compression level is set for the Client, a video signal on the Server is to be preliminary decompressed, that results in a great load increase on CPU of the Server.
  8. To change the procedure of video signal compression during displaying on the Monitor, select the required procedure of compression from the Compressor drop-down list (8).The value in the Compression list is to be selected if the compressor is specified (7).

    Note.

    Compression is performed at the Gate.

  9. If the Monitor is to receive live and archive video from the selected camera via the Gate object, then select the name of this object in the drop-down list of the Gate column (9).
  10. If a video archive from the selected camera is to be transmitted to the Monitor from the Backup archive object, then select the name of this object in the drop-down list of the Backup archive column (10).

    Note.

     In case of access to the Backup archive is performed through the Video gate, specified value is to be coincide with selected value for this video camera while configuring the Video gate object – see the Selecting and configuring the cameras for the Backup archive section.
  11. If the selected video camera is used for video archive viewing from the external storage, then select the required External storage object in the External storage drop-down list (11).
  12. If the tansmission from the Backup archive object is performed via the Gate object, then select the name of this object in the drop-down list of the Gateway for Backup Archive column (12).
  13. If there is a fisheye or anamorphic lens on the camera (see Configuring fisheye cameras), then in the Display type dropdown list select the way of displaying video from camera on the viewing tile: virtual telemetry or panorama (13).

    Note.

    Conversion is enabled in the Video surveillance monitor when zooming-in (see Mouse PTZ control) or in the feature menu of the Surveillance window (see Enabling fisheye).

    Note.

    This feature will be invalid if:

    - only alarm cameras are displayed on the monitor (see Configuring the display mode for camera boxes);

    - overlay mode 0 or 1 is selected (see Selecting the overlay mode);

    - PTZ control on the Video surveillance monitor is forbidden (see Setting the Telemetry control priority using the Monitor object).

  14. Repeat steps 2-13 for all required video cameras.
  15. To save all the changes click the Apply button (14).

Video cameras on the settings panel of the Monitor object are now selected.
