Documentation for Axxon One 2.0. Documentation for other versions of Axxon One is available too.
Software video compression is a procedure of software processing of a digitized video stream in order to reduce its volume. Compression is performed according to a specific software algorithm.
To compress video signals from IP devices, standard algorithms (for example, MPEG-4) or algorithms developed by the manufacturers of these devices are used.
To display a compressed video signal on the screen, the video signal is automatically decompressed beforehand.
If the video resolution of the remote devices on the layout is less than the compressed video resolution, Axxon One performs partial decompression of the video signal, which reduces the load on the processor of the computer that performs decompression. The network load isn't reduced. Partial decompression is possible with MPEG-2, MJPEG and MxPEG codecs.
