Documentation for Axxon Next 4.6.0. Documentation for other versions of Axxon Next is available too.
The Axxon Next Client can be started manually using the Start menu, used for launching user programs in Windows.
Note
To launch the Client from the command line, you have to specify the following parameters: login, password and server.
For example: C:\Program Files\AxxonSoft\AxxonNext\bin>AxxonNext.exe --login=root --password=root --server=127.0.0.1
To connect to multiple Servers, specify their addresses separated by commas.
For example: C:\Program Files\AxxonSoft\AxxonNext\bin>AxxonNext.exe --login=root --password=root --server=10.0.11.30, 10.0.11.34
To start working with the software, do the following:
Select Start → All Programs → Axxon Next → AxxonNext.
Note
The Axxon Next Client can also be started from the Axxon Next Tray Tool utility (see Axxon Next Tray Tool).
Axxon Next executable file AxxonNext.exe is located in the <Axxon Next installation directory>\Axxon Next\bin\ folder.
Note
To start the Client in the safe mode with OpenGL software emulation, select: Start → Programs → Axxon Next-AxxonNext (safe mode).
When the Client is running in the safe mode, the frame rate decreases.
The Axxon Next Client will then launch and an authorization window will appear.Note
Starting the Client when the system is working in the failover mode is described in Connecting to a Node and Configuring of an Axxon domain.
Select a Server to connect to, and specify a port number (1).
Note
If the software is accessed by a remote user, the name or the IP address of the computer with which the connection is established should be entered in the Server name or IP address field.
Note
The order of the Servers in the list is the following:
- Preferred Servers (see Selecting Preferred Servers).
- The last Server that was connected to.
- Other Servers in alphabetical order.
Enter the username and password (2) and click the Connect button.
Note
The first login to the system is done with the root user, which has administrator permissions. Enter root in the Username and Password fields. The administrator then needs to configure the system for multi-user access (for details, see Configuring user permissions).
Attention!
You need to match the software versions between the Server and the Client. The DriversPack version must be the same as well.
If the Server version is higher than the Client, you will be offered to update the Client (see Automatic update of a remote Client).
It is strongly recommended to avoid any connections if the product versions do not match.
If the user requires the access confirmation by the system administrator (see Creating and configuring roles), enter the corresponding credentials and click the Connect button.
If authorization is successful, a video surveillance monitor will be displayed on the screen.
Attention!
When you first start the Client, the archive settings tab opens (see Configuring Archives).
After the archive is created, you will be automatically switched to creating IP devices (see Adding and removing IP devices). IP Device Discovery Wizard will launch automatically.
Note
If Axxon Next is running in the demo mode, then after you enter the authorization parameters, a corresponding message will be displayed (see Axxon Next in demo mode).
If the Server to which Axxon Next is connecting does not belong to any Axxon-domain, after you click the Connect button in the authorization window, a message will be displayed.
To connect to the Server, you must either create a new Axxon-domain based on the Server or add the Server to an existing Axxon-domain.
If you choose the first option, click OK in the message and follow the instructions given in Creating a new domain. For the second option, click the button and follow the instructions given in Adding a Server to an existing Axxon-domain.
