A Server of Control can simultaneously interface with objects over both the TCP/IP and RS232 protocols.
To configure a connection between Server of Control and Control Agent/Archive:

- Go to the configuration pane for the Server of Control object (Fig. 5.2 – 5.2—1).

- In the TCP/IP port (Agent) field, enter the port number for TCP/IP communication with remote objects (see Fig. 5.2 – 5.2—1, 1).
- In the TCP/IP port (Archive) field, enter the port number for TCP/IP communication with the Archive Search module (see Fig. 5.2 – 5.2—1, 2).
- For the RS232 protocol, indicate the following parameters: First COM port number, Number of COM ports, COM port speed, and COM port format (see Fig. 5.2 – 5.2—1, 3).
- All objects connected to Server of Control must be specified in the settings for the Server of Control object (see Fig. 5.2 – 5.2—1, 4). To add an object:
- Click the Add button (see Fig. 5.2 – 5.2—1, 5). A dialog box for adding an object appears (Fig. 5.2 – 5.2—2).

- In the ID field, enter the object's ID. The value in this field must match the ID field in the Control Agent settings (see Fig. 5.2 – 5.2—2, 1).
- In the Object code field, enter the object's sequence number (Fig. 5.2 – 5.2—2, 2).
- In the Name field, enter the object's name (see Fig. 5.2 – 5.2—2, 3). The address of the object's location can be used as the name.
- To add the object, click OK (see Fig. 5.2 – 5.2—2, 4).
- Repeat steps 5.1 to 5.5 for all objects that you want to add.
