  1. Go to the Hardware tab in the System settings dialog box (1).
  2. Select the Detection zone object corresponding to the required detection tool, on the Hardware tab in the objects tree (2). The settings panel for the selected object appears on the right of the Hardware tab.
  3. Enable the abandoned objects detection tool (see the Enabling, configuring and disabling basic video detection tools section) or select the abandoned objects detection tool registered earlier (3).
  4. By default, abandoned (or lost) objects are framed in red. The frame color can be changed.
  5. By default, the detected (or lost) object is dynamically framed. If an abandoned (or lost) object is not to be framed, then set the Show checkbox unchecked (4).
  6. Set the value of the Sensitivity parameter by moving the the slider of the same name (7). This setting corresponds to the minimum value of the average brightness of the abandoned (or lost) object, which triggers the detection tool only by its appearance in the frame, not by the appearance of any other objects.
The best value of the Sensitivity parameter is defined by testing the false triggering of detection tools. With low values of the Sensitivity parameter, false triggering of detection tools by appearance of other objects is more probable. With high values of the Sensitivity parameter, detection of abandoned objects is less probable. It is recommended to select a Sensitivity value, which will exclude false triggering of detection tools.
  7. Set the value of the Filtration parameter by moving the slider of the same name (8). This setting corresponds to the time interval at the end of which the object in the frame is considered to be abandoned (or lost). The  Max position of the slider corresponds to 3 minutes, the Min position – to 3 seconds.
  8. Set the value of the Size parameter by moving the slider of the same name (9). The value of this parameter corresponds to the minimum linear dimensions of the detection object as a percentage of the dimensions of the video. When an object that is bigger than the preset one is detected as abandoned, the abandoned objects detection tool switches to the alarm status.
The best value of the Size parameter is defined by testing the triggering of detection tools. It is recommended to set the value to the Size parameter that is slightly higher than the mean size of abandoned (or lost) objects in the frame. If there is a false triggering of a detection tool, it is necessary to change the value of the Sensitivity parameter.
  9. To enable the auto recording option on an abandoned objects detection tool alarm and generate alarm for the selected corresponding camera, set the Alarmed checkbox (5).

    Info
    titleNote.
If the Recording alarms option is disabled in the Camera object settings, then no video recording is performed after detection tool triggers.

    Info
    titleNote.
If the Alarmed option is disabled in the detection tool settings, then detection tool arming is ineffective, though the line with the name of this detection tool is highlighted with a yellow square in the feature menu of the video surveillance window. This means that detection tool alarms are displayed in the Event Viewer but not shown in Video Surveillance Monitor or Map in any way.

  10. To disable disarming of the abandoned objects detection tool by any user (irrespectively of his rights), set the Armed always checkbox (6).

    Info
    titleNote.
When the Armed always checkbox is set, the line with with the name of the detection tool is not displayed in the feature menu of the video surveillance window.

  11. Click the Apply button (10).
