To install Axxon Next, regardless of the type of installation, it is necessary to perform do the following steps:

1. Open the Axxon Next distribution package.
   
   
   

2. Run the Setup.exe executable file.

   If you cannot run the installation files downloaded from the Internet, do as follows: allow running programs and unsafe files in Windows OS.

   
   

3. In the dialog box, choose the required language from the list and click the Install button.
   

4. Select the Axxon Next installation type in the dialog box by clicking selecting the appropriate option radio button:
   1. Client – installs only a client application – installs only the Client that allows the user to connect to any Server and perform administration/management/monitoring operations with of the protected guarded object based on the permissions granted by the administrator.

   2. Server and Client — client – installs the Client and the Server services.  The Axxon Next Server: 

      1. interacts with the devices (video cameras, microphones, inputssensors, outputsrelays, etc.) that constitute a the security system;
      2. writes video footage to archives on system disks; interacts with stores the archive data on its own storage space and interacts with the archives on NAS;

      3. hosts metadata database;

      4. employs detection tools to analyze live video;

      5. stores the events and object tracks databases;
      6. analyzes the incoming video image using the detection tools;
      7. stores the keeps configurations of the security system, user settings, custom layouts created in the system, macros, etc.

   3. Failover Server server and Client—  client – installs the Client and the Server services enhanced with the Failover capabilitytechnology.  In In emergency situations (Server power outage, network problemsconnection loss),   the configuration of the Server with the Failover technology restores the server configuration on another server. Please refer to the section titled Configuring Failover VMS for details on how to install VMS with the Failover capabilitywill be restored on another Server of the system (see Configuring Failover VMS).

      We offer a separate installation package containing only the Axxon Next Client without additional packages. To obtain it, contact our technical support. You can download additional packages from the official website.  This installation package is intended only for the Client updates; you . You cannot install it on a PC computer where Axxon Next was not previously installed.

      
      

5. To record all installation-related events to a log file, select the set the Enable full installation log check box checkbox.
6. Click the Next button.

   A dialog box prompts you to select the components for installation.

7. Select check boxes Set the checkboxes for the components that you want to install. We recommend installing all components.

8. Click the Install button. All selected components will be installed. The installation process may take considerable time. After that, the preparation process for the Axxon Next installer will be initiated.

   title Attention!
   Starting from The Axxon Driver Pack 3.51 , this driver package requires the Windows update KB2999226 to be installed. If this update is missingnot installed, you will see a warning. To continue installation, download the upgrade update from the official Microsoft website. When installing the update, consider the bitness of your system.

   The following required software is installed , if necessaryamong the prerequisites: 1) PostgreSQL 10.8.0 server database If an older version of PostgreSQL is installed, it is updated to version 10.8.0 database server.  A A new log database is automatically created (with the name : – ngp, the user name : – ngp, and the password : ngp– ngp. By default, PostgreSQL is installed on the system disk. You can change the path using the command line options of the installation file (see Silent install (Quiet Mode)). 2) .NET Framework 2.0, .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and .NET Framework 4.0. 3) Acrobat Reader , which that is necessary for exporting in to export the frames into the PDF format and printing freeze frames print them (see Frame export). 4) VLC Media Player. The VideoLan folder , in the Axxon Next installation folder, contains the file directory will contain the VLC.exe file, which is a version of the VLC Media Player that can be run from any connected disk/carrier without installation. This file can be used to view playback the exported archive video. Note title Attention! Starting from Axxon Next 4.5.10, VLC Media Player is excluded from the software package.

   
   

9. Click the Next button on the Setup Wizard welcome windowClick Next on the setup wizard's welcome screen.
   
10. To proceed with installation, carefully read and accept the terms of the license agreement by selecting the radio button next to I accept the terms of the License Agreement and click  and click the Next button.
    

11. Select the folder for storing the log database and the metadata database used in Axxon Next, and click the Next button.

    title Attention!
    The path of to the folder for storing the log database and the metadata database should contain only the Latin letters characters and numbers. The option for choosing the folder for storing the log database and the metadata database is available starting from Axxon Next 4.5.10.

    To reduce the load on the system disk, it is recommended to store the log database and the metadata database on a separate physical disk. To calculate the required amount of disk space for the log database, the metadata database and Axxon Next software package, you can use the the Disk storage subsystem requirements page.

    The log database and the metadata database will be located in the X:\AxxonNextData\ folder (in the Data and vmda_db subfolders, respectively), where X is the drive letter with the largest amount of free memory. In the future, the metadata database can be placed in the network storage (see Configuring storage of the system log and metadata).

    

12. By default, shortcuts are added to both quick launch bar and desktop. De-select Clear the corresponding checkboxes, if it's not required.

13. Upon connection to a By default, upon connecting to the Server, the Client may be automatically updated . De-select (see Automatic update of a remote Client). If it's not required, clear the Create an archive for automatic update checkbox if it's not required. In this case, you can save Axxon Next VMS installation time, but the Clients will not be automatically updated upon their connection to the Server.

14. Click  the Next button.

15. By default, the Axxon Next Server 's name is identical to the PC'scomputer name. If the PC computer name contains forbidden symbolsthe invalid characters, you have to set an appropriate name for the Server according to the recommendations, and click the Next button.

16. In the window that opens, select an the installation method type and click the Next button. 
    If the Custom installation method type is selected, you can perform advanced configuration of the installation will be able to set the advanced installation parameters of Axxon Next. 
    If the Standard installation method type is selected, you are prompted to select an will jump to selecting the Axxon domain (Step step 25). Default values will be used for other steps/settingsThe advanced installation parameters will be set to default values.
    

17. Select a user the account in of the file browser user:

    The file browser helps to navigate through the Server 's file system (such as for example, when choosing a disks for log the archive volumes). The user account for in the Windows file browser in Windows OS will be created with administrator privilegesrights.

    After installation of Axxon Next installation, make sure that a user account in the file browser account in Windows OS has been created in Windows and belongs to the Administrators administrators group.

    1. Use default AxxonNext File Browser account.;
    2. Use Local System account.;

    3. Specify username and password for new or already existing user.

18. Specify the path to the Axxon Next folders and configuration files.

    By default, the configuration files and folders of the configuration are stored at the following path: are located in the C:\ProgramData\AxxonSoft\AxxonNext\ folder.

19. Specify the path to the folder for installing Axxon Next.

20. Click the Next button.

21. Specify the range of ports to that should be used for the Server (see Ports used by the Axxon Next Software Package)operation. To do so, specify the lower end beginning of the range, as well as the number of ports. This feature guarantees that any server process will use only ports from the allowed range for its needsrange can be used by the local network administrator to forward the port manually in cases where it is necessary to give the Client access to the Server from another network. The minimum possible number of ports is 20. 
    
    For a full list of ports, see Ports used by the Axxon Next Software Package. If Axxon Next version lower than 4.5.0 was installed on the computer, then PostgreSQL database port will remain old - 49998. After you install Axxon Next, you can change it manually (see Configuring the Server ports).

    The number of ports that you select affects the scalability maximum operational configuration of the system. Keep the following in mind when specifying the number of ports: After the Server is installed, it occupies 10 ports, including one port for sending e-mails (via the SMTP service, see The E-mail notifier object) or text messages (via see The SMS notifier object). Attention! The The Failover Server server and Client client installation type (see Configuring Failover VMS) uses 9 base ports and preset port ranges for each node (see Ports used by the failover system); In a 64-bit configuration, 4 ports are required for any number of IP devices. In a 32-bit configuration, 4 ports are required for each of 32 cameras; Each archive requires 1 port; 1 port is required for viewing Video Footage through the archive in the Web Client; 2 ports are required for each decoded video stream on the currently opened layout in the Web Client; 2 ports are required for the mobile Client; 2 ports are required for any number of loudspeakers in the system (see The Speaker Object); 1 port is required for recording metadata into the DB; 2 ports are required for the service detection tools operation; 2 ports are required for the scene analytics detection tools operation; 2 ports are required for neuro the tracker-based scene analytics operation; 2 ports are required for the neural counter operation.

    Connected devices will only work on ports in from the specified range. If the not enough ports are not allocated enough, then some of the devices may not work or work unstable.

    
    

22. If necessary, set an the alternative Server address — − the outside local address for a Server external address of the switch board if the Server is behind the NAT. Interface specification format: "IP-address1 or DNS-name1, IP-address2 or DNS-name2".

23. To If it is necessary to restrict the visibility of the Servers on particular from certain networks in the list of Servers during Axxon Next setup configuration, do the following:

    1. Click the button Select network interfaces... button. The Network interfaces window opens.

       

    2. By default, the use of all available network interfaces on the Server is allowed, meaning that i.e. the Servers on the relevant networks will be visible in the list. If you do not want for the Servers on the networks of certain network interfaces to be visible in the list, clear the relevant check boxesClear the checkboxes next to those network interfaces, whose network Servers should not be in the list.

    3. Click the Apply button.

24. Click the Next button.

25. Create a new Axxon Domain with the name Default  name (for the definition of an Axxon Domain see see Appendix 1. Glossary). If you want to add the computer to an Axxon Domain at a later time, select Server will be manually added to already existing domain later. Click the Next button

    When reinstalling Axxon Next, you have the option of using the previous domain (select Use existing configuration).

    Using the same Axxon Domain name does not guarantee that the Servers will be in the same Axxon Domain. To place all Servers into one Axxon Domain, you must should use the Axxon Next interface to add each Server to the necessary Axxon Domain. Axxon Domain configuration is described in detail in the section titled Configuring Axxon domains.

26. Verify Check your installation settings and click click the Next  to button to begin installation of Axxon Next.
    Installation of Axxon Next is then performed.

27. Click Click the Finish  to button to confirm completion of the installation.
