If you have an earlier version installed, it is recommended to upgrade from previous versions step-by-step: 3.6.4 → 4.1.0 → 4.3.2 → 4.4.6 → 4.5.6 10 → 4.6.0.

You cannot directly upgrade to Axxon Next 4.6.0 from versions 3.6.4466 and earlier.

  • back up your configuration (see Backup and Restore Utility);
  • stop the Server (see Shutting down a Server) or, in case of failover FailOver system, the NGP_Supervisor service. If you run multiple Servers in the Axxon-domain, make sure to stop them all.

For a failover FailOver system, it is recommended to update the Servers through a supervisor (see Upgrading Servers within a cluster).

To upgrade from version 4.5.6 10 to version 4.6.0, do the following:

  1. Run the new build installer. You do not need to remove the previous build.

  2. Install the build using an existing configuration. The procedure is the same as for a new installation (see Installation).

    In Axxon Next version 4.5.8 and later, when you perform the upgrade, keep the databases in the same folder. If you set a different location for the databases, then metadata and database events will be unavailable.

    In Axxon Next version 4.5.10 and later, there are no restrictions on database placement. To reduce the load on the system disk, it is recommended to store the metadata database and the log database on a separate hard disk (see Configuring storage of the system log and metadata).
