Replication of archives the archive data refers to constant, block-by-block copying of fixed-size blocks of information (video, audio, metadata) from one archive to another archive within the same Axxon-domain. The primary purpose of data replication is to ensure long-term storage and access to multimedia recordings data on remote storage devices.

Note

Replication occurs is performed as information blocks are accumulated. 1 block may contain more than a minute of video.

Note

Replication is performed of information accumulate and only to the end of the archive. It is not possible to overwrite existing data in the Blocks of information can be replicated to any part of the archive in the object archive.

To transfer the old data from Archive 1 to Archive 2 and continue writing new data to Archive 2, do as followsthe following:

  1. Replicate the data from Archive 1 to Archive 2, while Archive 2 cannot be written to.
  2. Configure the camera to write to Archive 2.

Events The events indicating the start and successful completion of data replication are will be generated in the system (see Event Controlcontrol). These events can be used in macros (see Configuring Macros macros and Counterscounters).

To configure data replication, do the following:

  1. In the list of archives on of the Axxon-domain, select the archive to which you want to copy data from other archives.
  2. Select one or more archives form which you want to copy data (1). You can also replicate video from on-board the embedded camera storage (4, see The Embedded storage object).

  3. For each archive, select the cameras from which data will be copied to the source replication archive (2). To select all cameras, click the Select Allall button.

Data for from a particular camera can be copied to the replication archive only from one archive. When you select a camera for replication from an archive, the camera becomes unavailable for replication from any other archive.

You cannot select cameras if they are already recording writing to the replication archive.

  4. Select the replication process period (3):

    1. Always replication will be performed continuously.

    2. Time zone  replication will be performed within the specified time schedule (see Creating schedules). For example, to distribute the CPU load, you can configure replication to run at night.
    3. On demand replication will be started manually or using macros (see Manual Archive Replication, Start replication).

  5. Click the Apply button.

Data Configuring data replication configuration is complete. If the replication period was set to Always, data replication starts immediately after the settings are applied.
