When you create a layout, you are automatically taken You can switch to the layout editing mode .  Alternately, you can click the Image Removed button  and select either automatically when creating a new layout (see Creating and deleting layouts), or manually using the Edit layout/map in item of the context menu of the layouts ribbonpanel. The context menu is opened when you click the Image Added button.

In the layout editing mode, the space is divided by a grid of equal-sized squares for holding viewing tiles into cells of the surveillance windows (1).

On the edge of the layout there are grid square fragments of cells (2), which are parts of the ordinary empty cells and allow adding new cells to the layout (see Adding new cells to a layout).
