Archive calculation is available only if the Server and Server with viewing client calculation calculation types are selected — see selected—see Selecting the type of calculation. Also it is necessary that at least one stream is selected for recording — see recording—see Selecting the cameras.
The archive can be calculated with or without RAID.
Calculation of disk space for storing metadata is available only for the Axxon One platform (see Selecting the software platform).
Calculation without RAID
To calculate the disk space without RAID, select No RAID calculation (1).
...
- Set the parameters of the archive depth, the average number of hours per day during which it is planned to record into the archive, and the prerecord period, if necessary (1).
Archive, days—the required archive depth in days.
Hours per day—the average number of hours per day during which it is planned to record into the archive. 24 hours a day means permanent recording. Select the RAID level (2). The following options are available:
- JBOD—simple consolidation of disks, which is not a RAID level.
- RAID-0—RAID 0, an array of disks with data striping.
- RAID-1— RAID 1, an array of disks with data mirroring.
- RAID-10—RAID 10, an array of disks with mirroring and striping.
- RAID-5—RAID 5, an array of disks with block-level striping and one checksum.
- RAID-6—RAID 6, an array of disks with block-level striping and two checksums.
- Specify the Disk size (3) in the selected units (GB or TB). It is assumed that RAID will be built on the basis of disks of the specified size. The calculation results indicate the required number of disks and other RAID parameters (see Platform calculation results for Server and Server with viewing client).
- Specify Maximum number of disks per RAID group (4). Range of available values is specific to the chosen RAID level.
Specify Number of hot spare disks per server (5). Available values are natural numbers in range from 0 up to 100.
Info title Note More detailed information on RAID options can be found on page Description of RAID levels.
Configuring metadata and system log storage
If you select at least one detection tool for cameras (see Selecting the cameras and Types of detection tools), then after the video archive parameters step, there will be a step for setting the storage time for metadata and system log:
Metadata is information that describes the behavior of objects in the field of view of a video camera. They are generated by detection tools and are required for operation of such features as face search, Scene Analytics detection tools, Scene synopsis, and others (see General information on metadata).
The system log contains information about events that have occurred, including system errors.
The storage depth of metadata and system log determines the situation analysis period longevity that can be analyzed.
To set the storage time for metadata and system log, enable the Data storage toggle and use the slider or manually enter the storage period in days. The maximum is 1000 days.
