To configure the common settings of the Hikvision reader common settings, do the following:
- Go to the settings panel of the Hikvision 28X 26X Reader object setup panelobject.
- From the Direction drop-down list (1), select the direction of access through the reader's direction: Exit or Entrance.
- Set the Invert checkbox to enable the inverted (reverse) entrance. By default, the checkbox is clear.
- From the Entrance drop-down list, select the area located on the exit side of the door.
- From the Exit drop-down list, select the area located on the entry side of the door.
- Go to the Common tab (2).
- The Description field (3) displays a brief description of the reader. You cannot edit this field.
- The reader type is displayed in the Reader type name field (4).
- Check the Enable reader box (5) to activate the reader.
- From the OK LED polarity drop-down list (6), select the buzzer's polarity on a successful card swipe.
- From the Error LED polarity drop-down list (7), select the buzzer's polarity on a successful card swipe.
- Reader type name field displays the name of the reader type. You cannot edit this field.
- Set the Enable reader checkbox to enable the reader.
- In the Detect when reader is offline for, s field, specify the time in seconds, after which the reader will turn off when the connection with the Hikvision controller is lostFrom the Buzzer polarity drop-down list (8), select a reader buzzer's polarity.
- In the Min. card swiping interval, s field (9), specify the minimum time interval between two consecutive card swipes. You can set the interval in seconds in the range from 0 to 255 seconds, during which the repeated card swiping will be invalid.
- In the Max. interval for password digit, s field (10), specify the timeout time interval between consecutive pressings of numeric keys while in seconds between two digits when entering the password on the reader. If If the time interval between pressing two digits exceeds the timeout specified value, all previous entries are cancelledpreviously entered digits will be automatically cleared.
- Check Set the Failed attempts limit box (11) to automatically checkbox if you want to generate an alarm in case of exceeding when the permitted number of card swipes set swiping attempts exceeds the number specified in the Max. times of card swiping failure field (12).
- In the Max.times of card swiping failure field (12), set the critical field, enter the number of consecutive card swipes to generate card swiping attempts, after exceeding which an alarm will be generated if the Failed attempts limit box (11) is checked checkbox is set.
- Check the Tampering detection box (13) to enable the detection of device tampering attempts.
- In the Detect when reader is offline for, s field (14) field, specify the timeout interval to de-activate the reader on lost connection to the Hikvision controller.
- From the Entrance drop-down list (15), select the section located on the door entry side.
- From the Exit drop-down list (16), select the section located on the exit side of the door.
- Click Apply button (17).

- From the OK LED polarity drop-down list, select the polarity of the reader's buzzer when the card is successfully swiped.
- From the Error LED polarity drop-down list, select the polarity of the reader's buzzer when the card isn't successfully swiped.
- From the Buzzer polarity drop-down list, select the polarity of the reader's buzzer.
- Set the Tampering detection checkbox to detect unauthorized access to the reader.
- Click Apply button.
