- Set a search interval (see Setting a search interval).
- Select the detector from the list (1), by list by the events from which you want to search.
Enter the license plate that plate that you want to find (2). You can enter either a full license plate or a part of it using the ? character (any character in the license plate) and the * character (any number of any characters in the license plate). For example, a search query ?20* shows all vehicles with license plate plates containing 2 and 0 in the second and third positionpositions, respectively. License plate plates can contain any number of characters.

- If necessary, set additional search criteria by clicking the button button:
Info title Note To search by additional criteria, the Vehicle recognition option must be enabled in the License plate recognition RR settings (see see Configuring the License plate recognition RR, Configuring License plate recognition RR—Parking).
- Select the Vehicle class (3) from from the drop-down list:
- Car;
- Truck;
- Bus;
- Motorcycle;
- Mini truck;
- Unknown.
- Vendor (4): enter the full name of the car manufacturer in Latin letters, case-insensitive. Correct spelling examples: Mitsubishi, Nissan, Hyundai.
Model (5): enter the full name of the car model in numbers or Latin letters, case-insensitive. Correct spelling examples: Outlander, Teana, Creta, 406 (for Peugeot 406).

- Color (6): set the color of the vehicle (see Configuring object color).
- Select the Vehicle headlights (7) state state from the drop-down list:
- Unknown;
- Enabled;
- Disabled.
- Vehicle speed (8): in the From and To fields, set the vehicle speed range depending on the unit of measurement selected in the Speed detection field in the detection tool detector settings (see Configuring the License plate recognition RR):
Kmph: possible range from 0 to 450.
Mph: possible range from 0 to 280.
- Vehicle direction (9): select the vehicle direction from the drop-down list:
- Unknown—vehicle direction is not recognized;
- Incoming—vehicle is moving towards the camera;
Outgoing—vehicle is moving away from the camera.

- Select the Vehicle class (3) from from the drop-down list:
Click the Search button.
Info title Note Once started, the search can be stopped at any time. To do this, click the Stop button , which that appears instead of the Search button.
This starts a search based on the selected criteria. The search results panel displays frames with vehicles which whose license plates contain the text from the search query and also meet the specified additional parameters.
A recognized license plate is outlined with a red border in the Surveillance window.
