The video signal from the thermal imager is treated as a standard video signal, but the size of a detected object may be very small (as small as 3 pixels), so the detection tool needs fine tuning. |

The detection is performed by key frames. If detection tool configuration process described below does not result in a proper detection quality, i.e. the detection tool does not trigger or triggers with a delay, it is recommended to reduce key frame rate for video camera (see Configuring video compression) or video analytics stream if the camera has multiple streams (see Configuration of multistream video). |
To configure Infrared detection tool, do the following:
- Go to the Hardware tab in the System settings dialog box (1)
- Select the Detection zone object corresponding to the required detection tool, on the Hardware tab in the objects tree (2). The settings panel for the selected object appears on the right of the Hardware tab.
- Enable the infrared detection tool (see the Enabling, configuring and disabling basic video detection tools section) or select the infrared detection tool registered earlier (3).
- By default, detected moving objects are dynamically framed. If a moving object is not to be framed, set the Show checkbox unchecked (4).
To enable the auto recording option on an infrared detection tool alarm and generate alarm for the corresponding camera, set the Alarmed checkbox (5).
Info title Note. If the Recording alarms option is disabled in the Camera object settings, then no video recording is performed after detection tool triggers. Info title Note. If the Alarmed option is disabled in the detection tool settings, then detection tool arming is ineffective, though the line with the name of this detection tool is highlighted with a yellow square in the feature menu of the video surveillance window. This means that detection tool alarms are displayed in the Event Viewer but not shown in Video Surveillance Monitor or Map in any way. To disable disarming of the abandoned objects detection tool by any user (irrespectively of his rights), set the Armed always checkbox (6).
Info title Note. When the Armed always checkbox is set, the line with with the name of the detection tool is not displayed in the feature menu of the video surveillance window. Set the Sensitivity slider to the position corresponding to the minimal value of the average brightness of the moving object which triggers the detection tool by its motion (57).
Info title Note. The best value of the Sensitivity parameter is defined by testing the false triggering of detection tools. With low values of the Sensitivity parameter, false triggering of detection tools by thermal noise is more probable. With high values of the Sensitivity parameter, detection of motion in the frame is less probable.
Set the Sensitivity parameter when the Size, Filtration and Contrast parameters are set. It is recommended to set the value of the Sensitivity parameter which does not lead to false triggering by noise in video signal.Set the Contrast slider to the position corresponding to the minimal value of the contrast which triggers the detection tool by its motion (68).
Info title Note. The best value of the Contrast parameter is defined by testing the triggering of detection tools. With low values of the Contrast parameter the detection tool triggering by motion of objects colors colors of which are close to the color of the background is less probable. With high values of the Contrast parameter triggering of detection tools by noise in a video signal is more probable.
In most cases, the default setting (mean value) is sufficient.Set the Filtration Filter slider to the position corresponding to the minimal rate of object motion, which triggers the detection tool (7).When the slider is set to the Min position, the detection tool triggers by objects moving at any rate.minimum color threshold of the detected object at which the detector will trigger (9).
Info title Note. The best value of the Filtration parameter is defined by testing the triggering of detection tools. With low values of the Filtration parameter triggering of detection tools by noise (including snow and rain) in a video signal is more probable. With high values of the Filtration parameter triggering of detection tools by motion in the frame is less probable. If a detection tool triggers upon noise in a video signal, then change the value of the Sensitivity parameter. Set the Size slider to the position corresponding to minimal size of the object, which triggers the detection tool (810). The The size of the object is given expressed in portion relating fractions relative to the overall area size of the squareframe. When there is motion of the object which size exceeds the given value, motion detection tool switches to the alarm status.
Info title Note. The best value of the Size parameter is defined by testing the triggering of detection tools. With low values of the Size parameter triggering of detection tools by noise (including snow and rain) in a video signal is more probable. With high values of the Size parameter triggering of detection tools by motion in the frame is less probable.
It is recommended to set the value to the Size parameter that is slightly lower than the mean size of objects moving in the frame. It is recommended to set the value of the Size parameter that is a little less than the mean size of objects moving in the frame. If a detection tool triggers upon noise in a video signal, then change the value of the Sensitivity parameter. To enable the auto recording option on an infrared detection tool alarm for the selected camera, set the Alarmed checkbox (9).
To disable disarming of the abandoned objects detection tool by any user (irrespectively of his rights), set the Armed always checkbox (10).
Info When the Armed always checkbox is set, the line with with the name of the detection tool is not displayed in the feature menu of the video surveillance windowIn the Delay between MD_INFO (ms) field, enter the time period in milliseconds to pass between MD_INFO events (11). This parameter may be set to avoid overloading the Event Viewer with excessive amount of the events that may occur when the MD_INFO event of the CAM_ZONE object is enabled in .ddi file – see The Events tab.title Note. - Click the Apply button (1112).
Infrared detection tool is now configured.
