To install Axxon Next, regardless of the type of installation, you must it is necessary to perform the following steps:

1. Insert Open the Axxon Next installation disc into the CD drive, or unpack the archive with installer  distribution package.

2. Run the Setup.exe file.

3. In the dialog box, choose the desired required language from the list and click OKclick the Install button.

4. Select the Axxon Next software installation type in the dialog box by clicking the appropriate option button:
   1. Client – This type of installation is used for installing the software's user interfaces, which enable any user —installs only a Client application that allows the user to connect to any server within a single security system and to Server and perform administration/management/monitoring of a guarded location operations with the protected object based on the permissions granted by the administrator.

   2. Server and Client — installs —installs Client and Server services.   Axxon Next Server: 

      1. interacts Interacts with devices (cameras, microphones, inputs, outputs, etc.) that constitute a security system;.

      2. writes Writes video footage to archives on system disks; interacts with archives on NAS;.

      3. hosts Hosts metadata database; database.

      4. employs Employs detection tools to analyze live video;.

      5. keeps Keeps configurations of the security system, user settings, custom layouts, macros, etc.

   3. Failover FailOver Server and Client—  installs —installs Client and Server services enhanced with the Failover FailOver capability.  In In emergency (power outage, network problems),   the Failover FailOver technology restores the server Server configuration on another serverServer. Please refer to the section titled Configuring Failover FailOver VMS for for details on how to install VMS with the Failover FailOver capability.

      We offer a separate software installation package containing only the Axxon Next Client. To obtain it, contact our technical support. You can download additional packages from the official website.  This installation package is intended only for Client updates; you . You cannot install it on a PC where no  Axxon Next software  was not previously installed.

      
      

5. To record all installation-related events to a log file, select the Enable full installation log check box checkbox.
6.  Click the Click the Next button.
   

   A dialog box prompts you to select the components for installation.

   On Windows 11 OS and Windows Server 2019 OS errors may occur in the Server operation when Guardant drivers are installed. It is recommended not to install Guardant drivers. Installation of Guardant drivers is disabled by default. For the correct installation of Guardant drivers, it is necessary to disable the check of the drivers digital signature in the operating system and disable Secure Boot in BIOS.

   
   

7. Select checkboxes Select check boxes for the components that you want to install. We recommend installing all components.

8. Click the Install button button. All selected components will be installed. The installation process may take considerable time. After that, the preparation process for the Axxon Next installer will be initiated.

   Starting from Axxon Driver Pack 3.51, this driver package requires the Windows update KB2999226 to be installed. If this update is missing, you will see a warning. To continue installation, download the upgrade from the official Microsoft website. Two different versions of the Windows KB2999226 update are available for 32 and 64 bit system versions When installing the upgrade, consider the bitness of your system.

   After installation of the required software and drivers, preparation begins for Axxon Next installation.

9. Click Next on the Click the Next button on the setup wizard's welcome screen.

10. To proceed with installation, carefully read and accept the terms of the license agreement by selecting the radio button next to to I accept the terms of the License Agreement and click  and click the Next button.

11. Indicate Select the destination folders for installation of Axxon Next components and click Nextfolder for storing the log database and the metadata database used in Axxon Next, and click the Next button.

    The installation path for Axxon Next and its databases must to the folder for storing the log database and the metadata database should contain only Latin letters and numbers.

    To reduce the load on the system disk, it is recommended to store the log database and the metadata database on a separate physical disk. To calculate the required amount of disk space for the log database, the metadata database and Axxon Next software package, you can use the Disk storage subsystem requirements page.

    The log database and the metadata database will be located in the X:\AxxonNextData\ folder (in the Data and vmda_db subfolders, respectively), where X is the drive letter with the largest amount of free memory. In the future, the metadata database can be placed in the network storage (see Configuring storage of the system log and metadata) By default, the software will be installed to the directory C:\Program Files\AxxonSoft\AxxonNext\ .

12. By default, shortcuts are added to both quick launch bar and desktop. De-select the corresponding checkboxes if it's not required.

13. Upon connection to a the Server, the Client may be automatically updated (see Automatic update of a remote Client). De-select the Create an archive for automatic update checkbox if it's not required. In this case, you can save Axxon Next VMS installation time but the Clients will not be automatically updated upon their connection to the Server.

14. Click the Next button.

15. By default, the Axxon Next Server 's name is identical to the PC 'sname. If the PC name contains forbidden symbols, you have to set an appropriate name for the Server according to the recommendations, and click the Next button.

16. In the window that opens, select an installation method and click the Next button. 
    If the Custom installation method is selected, you can perform advanced configuration of the installation of Axxon Next. 
    If the Standard installation method is selected, you are prompted to select an Axxon-domain (Step 2025). Default values will be used for other steps/ settings.

17. Select a user account in the file browser:

    The file browser helps to navigate through the Server's file system (such as when choosing disks for log volumes). The user account for the Windows file browser will be created with administrator privileges.

    After installation of Axxon Next, make sure that a file browser account has been created in Windows and belongs to the Administrators group.

    1. Use default AxxonNext File Browser account.
    2. Use Local System
    3. Create a new account; the default name selected will be AxxonFileBrowser.
    4. Select the LocalSystem account.

    5. Specify username and password for new or already existing user.

18. Specify the path to Axxon Next folders and configuration filesSelect a folder for storing the files and folders of the Axxon Next configuration.

    Select a folder for storing Axxon Next databases: the log database and metadata database.

    You are advised to place the log database and metadata database on a disk that has sufficient space. If you will be using only a log database, the disk capacity must be at least 5% larger than the archive size. If you will also be using a metadata database, the disk must be at least 15% larger than the archive.

    The following formulas can help to determine the required disk size for the metadata database:

    Size of metadata database = N×T×(0,5GB / day)– sufficient disk size;

    Size of metadata database = N×T×(1GB / day)– sufficient disk size plus reserve space;

    Size of metadata database = N×T×(5GB / day)– sufficient disk size plus a large reserve.

19. Specify the path to the folder for installing Axxon Next

    N equals the number of video cameras in the system actively recording metadata; T equals the period of time (number of days) that metadata will be stored. By default, T = 30 days.

    If you have less than 15 GB of free disk space, the metadata DB is overwritten - new data records over the oldest data records

20. Click the Next button.

21. Specify the range of ports to be used for the Server

    (see Ports used by the Axxon Next Software Package)

    . To do so, specify the lower end of the range, as well as the number of ports. This

    feature guarantees that any server process will use only ports from the allowed range for its needs

    range can be used by the local network administrator to forward the port manually in cases where it is necessary to give the Client access to the Server from another network. The minimum possible number of ports is 20.
    For a full list of ports, see Ports used by the Axxon Next Software Package.
    If Axxon Next version lower than 4.5.0 was installed on the computer, then PostgreSQL database port will remain

    The number of ports that you select affects the scalability of the system. Keep the following in mind when specifying the number of ports: After the Server is installed, it occupies 10 ports, including one for sending e E-mails (via SMTP, see The E-mail notifier object) or text messages (via SMS, see The SMS notifier object).      The Failover Server and Client installation type uses 9 base ports and preset port ranges for each node (see Ports used by the failover system).

    Connected devices will only work on ports in the specified range. If not enough ports are allocated, then some of the devices may not work or work unstable.

    
    

22. If necessary, set an alternative Server address—the Set the outside local address for a Server behind the NAT. Interface specification format: "IP-address1 or DNS-name1, IP-address2 or DNS-name2".

23. To restrict visibility of the Servers on particular networks in the list of Servers during Axxon Next setup, do the following:

    1. Click the button Select network interfaces... The Network interfaces window opens.

    2. By default, use of all available network interfaces on the Server is allowed, meaning that Servers on the relevant networks will be visible in the list. If you do not want for the Servers on the networks of certain network interfaces to be visible in the list, clear the relevant check boxescheckboxes.

    3. Click the Apply button.

24. Click the Next button.

25. Create a new Axxon Domain -domain with the name Default (for the definition of an Axxon Domain -domain see Appendix 1. Glossary). If you want to add the computer to an Axxon Domain -domain at a later time, select Server will be manually be manually added to already existing Axxon- domain later. Click the Next button button.

    When reinstalling Axxon Next, you have the option of using the previous Axxon Domain domain (select Use existing configuration).

    Using the same Axxon Domain -domain name does not guarantee that the Servers will be in the same Axxon Domain-domain. To place all Servers into one Axxon Domain-domain, you must should use the Axxon Next interface to add each Server to the necessary Axxon Domain-domain. Axxon Domain -domain configuration is described in detail in the section titled Configuring Axxon-domains.

26. Verify your installation settings and click click the Next  to button to begin installation of Axxon Next.
    Installation of Axxon Next is then performed.

    After installation, a new dialog box will appear informing you that the installation of Axxon Next is completed.

27. Click Click the Finish  to button to confirm completion of the installation.

Installation of Axxon Next is now complete.
