SNMP trap objects use the trap port 162 to send messages in Intellect. |
SNMP-service carries out the following functions:
- Receipt of messages concerning the event, registered in the system;
- Message conversion concerning the event to SNMP format;
- Message transfer in SNMP format (trap) to SNMP-manager with the use of TCP/IP net protocol.

Moreover, SNMP Wrapper module is the part of ACFA Intellect – it allows Intellect to behave as SNMP manager and get data from external systems – see SNMP Wrapper Settings Guide. |
Setting the SNMP-service is done in the following order:
- Create SNMP trap object on the basis of Objects SNMP service system objects (see Creating the SNMP trap object).
- Select the events, which messages should be transferred to SNMP-manager (see Events selection for transmitting to SNMP manager).
- Set the message conversion to SNMP format (see Configuring the message conversion into SNMP format).
- Se Set the trap with SNMP-message (see Setting up the trap with SNMP-message).
- Check the validity of SNMP configuration, if necessary (see SNMP configuration for traps receiving on remote computer).

It is not recommended to create lots of SNMP trap objects (more than 10) as it can cause system slowdown. |
