For example, the interval is set to 10 minutes on this sample graph here. The current time (11:46:36) is the last point on the graph, so after rounding this to the next whole minute we get the value for the next-to-last point: 11:46:00. Correspondingly, the points before it are 11:36:00, 11:26:00, etc.
When the current time becomes 11:47:00, the points will be updated to 11:37:00, 11:27:00, etc.

For example, for this graph the current number of events equals 9, for the period from 11:46:00 to 11:5647:00.
