General information about the PureVideo/CUDA hardware acceleration

You can It is possible to enable the PureVideo/CUDA hardware acceleration when video signals are decompressed from IP devices are decompressed. In this case decompression may be carried out by Server’s graphics processor and this , the GPU of the video card can perform decompression, which reduces the load on the server CPU.

Note
titleAttention!
 It is recommended to update the driver of the card that supports the PureVideo/CUDA hardware acceleration. Drivers are available for downloading at the official web page of NVIDIA (www.NVIDIA.com).

For more information about the PureVideo/CUDA hardware acceleration

is given in reference manual of NVIDIA company.

, see the official NVIDIA reference documentation.

Limitations of using the PureVideo/CUDA hardware acceleration

...

  1. Is managed by OS Windows XP/Vista/7.
  2. The PureVideo HD video card of the second or third generation is installed (NVIDIA VP2 and VP3).

Widespread models of video cards that support the PureVideo/CUDA:

1         NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295;

2         NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285;

3         NVIDIA Quadro NVS 450;

4         NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT;

5         NVIDIA Quadro NVS 420;

6         NVIDIA Quadro NVS 295.

  1. Use Windows 10 and later, which operates with NVIDIA GPUs, as well as related libraries and drivers, such as the CUDA Toolkit and NVIDIA Video Codec SDK.
  2. Video card with NVDEC hardware decoding support is installed.
    Note
    titleAttention!
    • CUDA is compatible with generations of computers on architectures: Kepler (partially), Maxwell, Pascal, Volta, Turing, Ampere, and Ada Lovelace (partially) (see CUDA).
    • You can check the version of your GPU Compute Capability on the manufacturer's website.
    • When you use the NVIDIA GPU, we recommend installing the latest driver version from the official website.
  3. You can use it only for one video card.
  4. You can use it for decompression of live video on the client.
  5. You can use it for decompression of video signals with H.264 and H.265 compression formats.
  6. You can use it for decompression at any resolution of the camera.

You can enable the PureVideo/CUDA hardware acceleration on the settings panel of the Camera object or on the settings panel of the Monitor object on the List of cameras tab (see Selecting and configuring video cameras and Selecting and configuring video cameras in bulk).

Enabling PureVideo/CUDA in the settings of the Camera object

Info
titleNote.
 In the Axxon PSIM software package the PureVideo/CUDA hardware acceleration is applied only for video signals’ decompression in H264 codec.

To enable the PureVideo/CUDA hardware acceleration in the settings of the Camera object, do the following:

  1. Shutdown the Shutdown Axxon PSIM software package if it was run is running on the computer.
  2. Run the Tweaki.exe utility (See the Starting and shutting-down the Tweaki.exe utility section).
  3. Select the Video subsystem section in the tree in the upper left corner of the utility’s dialog box (see The Settings panel of the Video subsystem section).
  4. Set the Enable PureVideo/CUDA hardware acceleration checkbox.
  5. Click the OK buttonSet the 1 value for the EnableCodecSettings registry key (see Registry keys reference guide. For more information on working with the registry, see Working with Windows OS registry). The key opens the Decompressor and Compressor settings for editing.
  6. Go to the Advanced settings tab on the settings panel for of the Camera object.
