General information

This action starts an external program on the computer that runs the Axxon One client.

The external program starts on all clients that are connected to the domain.

Attention!

The external program doesn't start on the computer that is an Axxon One server, if the client isn't running on the computer when a macro is initiated.

Configuring an action

To configure the action, do the following:

  1. Go to the Programming tab.
  2. In the Event rules or Cycle rules list, click Create... (see Configuring macros).
  3. Select a start condition that triggers a macro (see Configuring start conditions).
  4. Click the  button below start conditions.
  5. From the drop-down list, select General: Run external application on client.
  6. In the Path to file parameter, enter the path to the program's executable file on all clients. You can specify a network path.

  7. In the Role parameter, select the role for users of which the program will be run.

  8. In the Launch parameters parameter, specify the launch parametes if necessary. When you start an external program, its work directory coincides with the directory where the executable file is located. If there is a file in the launch parameters and it is located in the directory with the executable file of the program, you don't need to specify the path to it.

    Note

    To run a program that requires Administrator privileges, you must either disable UAC (In Windows 10 OS, you must make edits to the registry) or run the Axxon One client as Administrator.

  9. Click the Apply button.

Configuration of the Run external application on client action is complete.
