The update agent, installed as a service, automatically starts before the user logs into the Windows OS and allows updating software without logging into the OS, as well as updating the software that starts through the service.
The startup is performed by the Update Agent service that is created when you install the agent as a service. By default, to start the client, use the UpdateAgent.Core.exe executable module.
The UpdateAgent.Core.exe module used by the service doesn't have an interface, so you can only find out about its operation in the Task Manager by the UpdateAgent.Core.exe process (on the "Processes" tab) or by the Update Agent service (on the "Services" tab).
According to its functionality, UpdateAgent.Core.exe is completely identical to update_agent.exe.
You can start a service only for the agent (Client (Workstations)—installation type), but not for the server (Server (Administrator's workplace)—installation type).
