This section outlines a step-by-step instruction on how to install INTELLECT™ software as a “Server”.
The following features are to be taken into account while installing INTELLECT™ software:
|
To install INTELLECT™ software, do the following:
Run the setup.exe file to start the INTELLECT™ software installation procedure.
As a result the dialog box of choosing language is displayed.
The notification box is displayed if Microsoft.Net Framework 4.0 has not been installed. Click Yes for Microsoft.Net Framework 4.0 auto installation. |
When INTELLECT™ is installed on Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 OS, the Microsoft.Net Framework 4.0 or later is to be pre-installed. If the Microsoft.Net Framework 4.0 or later has not been installed, then the warning is displayed. In this case stop installing INTELLECT™ and install the Microsoft.Net Framework 4.0 or later. You will find the instructions on how to install it at: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/hh506443.aspx |
To log all installation events, set the Enable full logging (increases time of product installation) checkbox.
While installing and uninstalling the software events are logged to Intellect.log and Intellect uninstall.log correspondingly. To collect log-files, the “Support.exe” tool is to be used (see The utility for collecting configuration data on servers and RWS for the Technical Support section). |
Set the checkboxes next to the components that are to be installed.
All offered components are recommended to be installed. However, if installation is performed using the integrated software package (with vertical solutions modules), then there will be an option to select vertical solutions that are to be installed. Only those vertical solutions that will be in use are to be selected. There is no need to install all vertical solutions. Vertical solutions will be installed after installing Axxon Intellect Enterprise. Information on how to install vertical solutions can be found in the corresponding documentation. |
At this stage it is possible to deny installing MS SQL Express database server. In this case it will be required to configure connection to the remote database at step 16. When installation of Intellect is complete database connection parameters can be changed using the idb.exe utility – see INTELLECT™ software database connection. Pay attention that Intellect operation will be impossible without connection to any database source. |
If you are not installing from a disk, you will also be able to select the languages to be installed. To do this, download the language pack from AxxonSoft official website (https://www.axxonsoft.com/) before beginning the installation and put the archive's files into the languages folder in the installer's directory. As a result, the Selecting components for installation window will offer selection of languages to be installed.
If this method of installing languages is not suitable, each language may be installed individually (see Installing the language). After the installation, use the utility tweaki.exe to switch languages (see Switching languages in the Intellect Software System). |
Click the Install button.
The selected components are automatically installed except Microsoft SQL Server Express 2014 database (necessary for work with INTELLECT™ databases), that is installed manually (see Microsoft documentation).
Auto installation of necessary prerequisites may take more than 10 minutes. |
After this the Welcome to the Intellect Setup Wizard box is displayed.
Click the Next button.
When the Custom installation mode is selected, the dialog box of choosing the installation folder is displayed, and then the Select components dialog box is displayed. This step is omitted when the Standard installation mode is selected.
The description of the component is displayed in the installation box when this component is selected. |
The dialog box of specifying the path to the key file is displayed.
Keep the field blank if the key file will be copied later. |
Click the Next button.
The dialog box of installing Intellect as a service is displayed.
The 64-bit version of Intellect is not available when installed as a service. If this checkbox is set checked, then 32-bit modules will be started after installing Intellect as a service. |
Click the Next button.
The dialog box of MS SQL Server database server selection is displayed. Specify the authentication parameters to connect to it.
Access of some user to the database is impossible without additional settings of the idb.exe utility and knowing of the login and password of Administrator if installation of the Intellect software package is performed by Administrator and Windows account data are in use for SQL authentication. So it is highly recommended not to use such authentication method of the SQL server. |
Select the SQL-server using the drop-down list.
If there is necessity to use the SQL-server installed on this (local) computer, the “(local)\SQLEXPRESS2014” item (set by default) is to be selected. |
You cannot connect different Servers to one database. Server can use remote database, but requirements to network and other resources become higer and this can cause delays while transmitting events and states of cores. |
Set the authorization parameters that will be used by INTELLECT™ while connecting to the SQL-server.
If INTELLECT™ is installed as a service, select the SQL Server identity check, i.e. set the Use the following username and password checkbox and specify the username and password to login the Server database. If the database is to be connected via the Windows account, then for proper operation of INTELLECT™ any other the user is to have corresponding SQL Server permissions. |
Ways of authorization performed in the dialog box.
Ways of authorization | Windows user account | Use the following username and password (recommended) |
Usage | SQL Server from Intellect distributive (or from the distributive of the external vendor) and Intellect is installed on the same computer | SQL Server from Intellect distributive and Intellect are installed on the same computer. Meanwhile connection to SQL Server with the set username (login) and password may be performed from any remote computer that is in the same net domain of TCP/IP net with a computer, where SQL Server is being installed. |
SQL Server and Intellect are installed on different computers that are connected through TCP/IP net and are in the same net domain. Meanwhile the account for the user currently authorized in Windows OS on the computer, where Intellect is being installed is to be created in Windows OS on the computer with installed MS SQL Server. | SQL Server from Intellect distributive and Intellect are installed on different computers that are connected through TCP/IP net and are in the same net domain. Meanwhile the username (login) and password are to correspond to the username (login) and password used for access to SQL-server. | |

Click the Next button.
If the system while being installed displays the “Rights are required to create or edit databases” message, then the installation process must be stopped and then restarted again. |

Then the Installation wizard dialog box is displayed, containg the information on the mode (installed or not) of Intellect components.
The dialog box offering to restart the system is displayed.
The option with installation completion and system restarting is the most recommended. |
