The Face Intellect software package is installed as an extension to the Intellect software package. For the information on compatibility of Face Intellect with Intellect versions, see General information about product releases and versions compatibility.

Updating the Face Recognition 4.8.3, Face Finding 5.0.1 and earlier versions is not supported. When trying to upgrade these versions, the stored data will be irretrievably lost and you will need to purchase a new license key.

To correctly install the new version of Face Intellect, manually delete the old Face Recognition 4.8.3, Face Finding 5.0.1 (with reference face database removing) and earlier versions modules.


Face Intellect software package should be installed both on the Server/Remote administrator workplace and on the Client (for details, see Intellect software package. Administrator's Guide).

To install the Face Intellect software package, do the following:

  1. Insert the installation CD with the Face Intellect software package to the CD/DVD drive. The CD contents will be displayed in dialog  window.

  2. Run the executable Setup.exe file to start the Face Intellect installer.

    If the Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Packages (x64) is not installed, this package will be installed in silent mode.

  3. As a result, the welcome window with the Welcome to the Face Intellect v.<Face Intellect version>Setup Wizard message will be displayed.

  4. Click Next.
    The dialog window with the license agreement will be displayed.
  5. Confirm that you agree with the conditions of license agreement by setting I accept the terms of the license agreement checkbox after reading the conditions of the license agreement, otherwise the software installation will be cancelled.
  6. Click Next.
    The window in which you should select an instance of the MS SQL Server and set the authorization parameters will be displayed.

  7. Select the SQL server using Database server dropdown list.

    If it is necessary to use an SQL server that is installed on the local computer you should select (local)\SQLEXPRESS2014 point (set by default).


  8. Set the authorization parameters that will be used by Face Intellect software package when you connect to the SQL server.
    The following authorization methods are available in the dialog window (see table below).

    The SQL server from the Intellect software package distribution (or distribution of a third-party vendor) and Face Intellect are installed on one computer.

    The SQL server for Intellect and Face Intellect distribution is installed on one computer. At the same time the connection to the SQL server with a given user name (login) and password can be done from any remote computer that is in the same domain of the TCP/IP network, as the computer on which you install SQL server.

    The SQL server and the Intellect software package are installed on different computers that are connected by TCP/IP network and are located in one network domain. At the same time a user account should be created for the user authorized in Windows OS on the computer where Face Intellect and MS SQL server are installed.

    The SQ -server for Intellect and Face Intellect distribution is installed on different computers that are connected by TCP/IP network and located in one domain. At the same time the given user name (login) and password should be the same as the user name and password that are used to gain access to the SQL server.

    A full-scale SQL server (installed additionally) and Intellect are installed on different computers that are connected by TCP/IP network and are located in one network domain. At the same time the user account should be created on remote SQL-server for the user authorized in Windows OS on the computer where Face Intellect is installed.

    Full-scale SQL server (installed additionally) and Intellect are installed on one or different computers that are connected by TCP/IP network and are located in one network domain. At the same time the given user name (login) and password should be the same as the user name and password that are used to gain access to the SQL server.


    In case of using a distributed architecture for video surveillance system it is recommended to set the login and password to connect to remote SQL server by selecting Use following user name and password (recommended for network configuration). Selection of this way of authentication provides stable operation of the Face Intellect software package with remote resources.

  9. To continue the installation process, click Next. The Specify the path to the images and vectors of faces dialog box will be displayed. Select the folder where the software will store the images and vectors of captured and reference faces by clicking Select.  
  10. Click Next. The Ready to Install dialog box will be displayed.
  11. Click OK.
    As a result, the dialog window of Face Intellect software package installation process will be displayed.

    After the installation of all Face Intellect software package components the dialog window of installation process completion will be displayed.


  12. Click Finish.

    The TCP 10000 port will become open for all incoming connections in Windows firewall during the Face Intellect installation — this port is important for the proper operation of the Face Intellect software package.


The Face Intellect software package installation is successfully completed.
