General Device is a generic driver that supports nearly all devices from a particular camera vendor.
There are 2 types of generic drivers:
Connection via generic drivers is available for the following devices:
Axis | Bosch | Panasonic | Samsung | Sony | ONVIF | |
General Device | + | + | + | + | + | |
generic | + | + | - | - | - | + |
Devices connected via General Device drivers are findable via the IP device discovery wizard. The method for adding them to the system is the same as for ordinary devices (see Searching, adding, configuring and removing IP devices).
Axis devices are affected by a special restriction: if the username and password for device access do not equal the default values, the number of channels for the device is not discoverable. Therefore, all non-integrated devices which username and password for device access do not equal the default values will be shown in search results as 1-channel General Devices. |
You must always select a generic driver manually.
If a IP device is not displayed in search results, you can add it manually:
Addition of the device is now complete.
If a device, connected via a generic driver, is temporarily not available or it has incorrect connection settings, then it is not added to the configuration. |
