Video and audio archives store copies of video and audio recordings created by Axxon PSIM.

All archives are divided into the following types:

  1. Main archive—the video server archive.
  2. Backup archive—archive created using the Backup archive module.
  3. Edge storage—archive stored in the embedded storage of the external IP device (NVR). Recording to this archive is not performed.
  4. Videogate archive—archive created using the Videogate module. Videogate is used to reduce the load on the network when sizeable data flows are transmitted from the video servers to the remote workstations.
If the videogate is on, data from the video servers is not transmitted directly to the remote workstations but through the videogate, which in turn distributes received data among the workstations. The videogate can function as a backup archive, unless it is the case where recording must be resumed; if the communication line fails, video recording is resumed from the beginning, instead of from the cut-off point.

The table compares the characteristics of archives and the corresponding functional modules.
