A motion in the area detector is a VMDA detectoion tool that triggers when the object (objects) makes some actions in a virtual area that is in the camera FOV.

To configure a motion in the area detector, do the following:

  1. Go to the VMDA detection object settings panel.
  2. Click the Add area button (1).
  3. In the  Video preview field (3), set the nodal points of the area one by one by clicking the left mouse button. Only one area can be added. If there is an attempt to add a second area, the first one will be deleted.
  4. Make the necessary operations with an area. The operations are shown in the table.

    Operation

    Result

Left mouse click in the video surveillance window

    Area’s nodal point addition

Hover to a nodal point and holding the left button pressed move the mouse

    Area’s nodal point shift

Hover to a nodal point and press right mouse button

Line deletion. If there are three nodal points the whole area will be deleted

  5. To select an object type for which the detector will trigger, click the  symbol. Available object types are:

    1.  Any object. Detector triggers while dealing with any object.
    2.  A human. Detector triggers while dealing with a human.
    3.  A vehicle. Detector triggers while dealing with a vehicle.

      Note.

Detection of the following object types can be configured using scripts and registry keys: a human, a group of humans (with a possibility to count the number of people in a group), a vehicle, noise, an object carried into the area, an object carried out of the area, other objects. See also CAM_VMDA_DETECTOR section of the Programming Guide.

More precise objects classification can be performed using the neural filter (see Configuring the neural filter).

  6. To select a detector type, click the  symbol. Available detector types are given below.

    1.  Any motion in the area. Detector triggers due to any motion in the area

    2.  Entrance into the area. Detector triggers due to object’s entrance into the area

    3.  Exit from the area. Detector triggers due to the exit of object from the area

    4.  Appearance in the area. Detector triggers due to the object’s appearance in the area

    5.  Disappearance from the area. Detector triggers due to the object’s disappearance from the area

    6.  Stop in the area. Detector triggers due to the object’s stop in the area

    7.  Presence in the area for more than 10 sec. Detector triggers due to the object’s precense in the area for more than 10 sec. This period can be confgured with LongInZoneTimeout registry key (see Registry keys reference guide).

    8.  Abandoned item. Detector triggers due to the item abandoned in the area

  7. To set the object color to be triggered by the detector, click the  icon. The color picker palette will open. Circle the required color range with the left mouse button.

To reset the selected color range to the default value, right-click in the palette area.

  8. Set the Generate alarm on camera checkbox (4), if the camera alarm should be generated when the detector triggers.
  9. To save the changes, click the Apply button (5).

Note.

To clear the preview field from a visual element (an area), click the Clear button (2).
