Previous page Setting up the position of the Map on the screen  Configuring the external Map server Next page

You can locate several graphical plans of guarded objects on one interactive Map. Each graphical plan is represented by a Layer object.

Create and configure the Layer object as follows:

  1. Go to the Interfaces tab of the System settings dialog box (1).
  2. Create a Layer object under the Map object or select the existing Layer object in the objects tree in the Interfaces tab of the System settings dialog box (2).
  3. Specify the ID and name for the Layer object, and select the Map object to become the parent of the Layer object (3).
  4. To edit the image represented by the Layer, click the Edit layer button (4). The Map editor utility will open allowing the graphical image to be edited.

    Note

When the Map editor utility is started, then the System settings dialog box is inactive. Close the Map editor utility to continue working with the System settings dialog box.
You cannot start the Map editor utility for several layers.
  5. To display this layer on top of all other layers, click the Activate on map button (5).
  6. To save all the changes click the Apply button (6).

After a new layer is created and configured, a graphical image of the area is to be attached to it, or the layer background color is to be selected, or the map server is to be selected to use external map as a background. These types of background are mutually exclusive, i.e. only one of them can be in use in one time. For example, if the file or external map is selected, then the background color will not be applied.

Attach the image or select the background color as follows:

  1. Go to the settings panel of the Layer object.
  2. Open the Map editor application.

    Note

The Map editor application allows selecting the plan of guarded area, creating the devices icons and placing them on the map, as well as other settings.

To open the Map editor, click the Edit layer button on the settings panel of the Layer object.

  3. In the main menu of the Map editor, select Map -> General settings.

As a result the dialog box to select the image used as a graphical plan of the guarded area will open.

This dialog box can also be accessed from the Set background item of the context menu of the map area.

  4. Select the background file as follows:

    1. Press the button in the Settings dialog box.

As a result the standard dialog box to select the image used as a graphical plan of the guarded area will open.

      Note

The graphical area plan should be saved as a bmp, gif, jpeg, jpg, png, tiff, emf or svg image file.

Open the .bmp file and click the Open button.
When the layer file is selected, it is copied to the Bmp folder in INTELLECT™ installation folder.

      Attention!

For proper operation of the interactive map in the distributed configuration, the Bmp folders are to be synchronized on all computers in the distributed system. The folders are synchronized automatically - start the Client under the Administrator.
    2. In the Width and Height fields specify the resolution of the image used as a graphical plan of the guarded area. The values specified in the Width and Height fields are to match real resolution of the image file.

  5. Set the layer background as follows:

    1. Clear the File field in the Settings dialog box.

    2. Select the required background color in the Background dropdown list.

      Note

The background color will be applied only after shutting down the Map editor utility and opening it once again.

  6. To select an external map as a background, select the previously created and configured Map Server object from the Background server drop-down list (see Configuring the external Map server).

    Note.

If an external map is selected as a backgroung, the layer is automatically binded to geographical coordinates – see also Configuring map binding to coordinate grid.

  7. To apply all the changes click the OK button in the Settings dialog box.

The Map editor will display the new graphical plan of the guarded area.
