If you have an earlier version installed, please perform a step-by-step upgrade: 3.6.4. → 4.1.0 → 4.3.2 → 4.4.6 → 4.5.0-4.5.8.

You cannot directly upgrade to Axxon Next 4.5.0-4.5.8 from versions 3.6.466 and lower.

To upgrade from an older version, do the following:

  1. Remove the old version.
  2. Install the new version.
  3. Reconfigure the system.

For a failover system, we recommend you to update Servers through the supervisor service (see Upgrading Servers within a cluster).

Before you start updating, do the following:

  • back up your configuration (see Backup and Restore Utility);
  • stop the Server (see Shutting down a Server) or, in case of failover system, the NGP_Supervisor service. If you run multiple Servers in the Axxon domain, make sure to stop them all.

Attention!

In Axxon Next 4.5.0, the default PostgreSQL database port is changed to 20110. When upgrading from previous versions, the old port 49998 remains.

After you update Axxon Next, you can change it manually (see Configuring the Server ports).

To upgrade to version 4.5.8, you must:

  1. Run the new build installer.

    Note

You do not need to remove the previous build.

  2. Install the build using an existing configuration. The procedure is the same as for a new installation (see Installation).

    Attention!

In Axxon Next 4.5.0, the format of the system log database has changed and its size has increased. When upgrading from a previous version, the existing database will be converted.

In this case, before starting the upgrade, the free space on the disk hosting the database will be checked. If the free disk space is less than the four-fold size  of the current database(the size of the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\AxxonSoft\PostgreSQL.NGP\Data), then you will see a  warning that some events after the upgrade may be lost.

Click Yes to continue the installation. After installation, you need to adjust the database storage settings or increase the free space on disk (see Configuring storage of the system log and metadata).

    Attention!

When you update the software, keep DBs in the same folder. If you set a different location for DBs, the metadata and events from it will not be available.
