Documentation for Axxon Next 4.5.0 - 4.5.10. Documentation for other versions of Axxon Next is available too.
It is necessary to upgrade to version 4.5.0 - 4.5.10 from version 4.4.6 or 4.5.0-4.5.8. If you have an earlier version installed, it is recommended to upgrade from previous versions step-by-step: 3.6.4. → 4.1.0 → 4.3.2 → 4.4.6 → 4.5.0 - 4.5.10.
You cannot directly upgrade to Axxon Next 4.5.0 - 4.5.10 from versions 3.6.466 and earlier.
If you upgrade to Axxon Next 4.5.0 - 4.5.10 from versions earlier than 3.6.4.466, then do the following:
- Remove the old version (see Removal).
- Install the new version (see Installation).
- Reconfigure the system.
Before you start updating, do the following:
- back up your configuration (see Backup and Restore Utility);
- stop the Server (see Shutting down a Server) or, in case of FailOver system, the NGP_Supervisor service. If you run multiple Servers in the Axxon-domain, make sure to stop them all.
Attention!
For a FailOver system, it is recommended to update the Servers through a supervisor (see Upgrading Servers within a cluster).
To upgrade from version 4.4.6/4.5.0 to version 4.5.0 - 4.5.10, do the following:
Run the new build installer. You do not need to remove the previous build.
Install the build using an existing configuration. The procedure is the same as for a new installation (see Installation).
Attention!
When you perform the upgrade to Axxon Next version 4.5.0 - 4.5.8, keep the databases in the same folder. If you set a different location for the databases, then metadata and database events will be unavailable.
When you perform the upgrade to Axxon Next version 4.5.10, there are no restrictions on database placement. To reduce the load on the system disk, it is recommended to store the metadata database and the log database on a separate hard disk.
When upgrading from version 4.4.6, consider the following:
Attention!
In Axxon Next 4.5.0, the format of the system log database has changed and its size has increased. When upgrading from a previous version, the existing database will be converted.
In this case, before starting the upgrade, the free space on the disk hosting the database will be checked. If the free disk space is less than the four-fold size of the current database (the size of the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\AxxonSoft\PostgreSQL.NGP\Data), then you will see a warning that some events after the upgrade may be lost.
Click Yes to continue the installation. After installation, you need to adjust the database storage settings or increase the free space on disk (see Configuring storage of the system log and metadata).Attention!
In Axxon Next 4.5.0, the default PostgreSQL database port is changed to 20110. When upgrading from previous versions, the old port 49998 remains.
After you update Axxon Next, you can change the port manually (see Configuring the Server ports).
