If you create an archive based on an existing volume, you can extract archive recordings from the archive only if the following conditions are met:

  • The name of the server or node on which writing to an existing archive volume was performed is the same as the current name.
  • The IDs of the cameras from which the recordings were written to an existing archive volume are the same as the IDs of the current cameras.

To create an archive based on an existing volume, do the following:

  1. Create an archive (see Creating a local archiveCreating a remote archive).
  2. Set the checkboxes next to the disks or network storages that contain existing volumes (1).

    Note

A new archive can contain volumes that previously belonged to different archives.

  3. If a volume is in the file form, select an archive file to which recording was performed (2).
  4. Clear the Format checkbox (3).

    Note

If the Format checkbox is set, the archive recordings that are currently stored in the volume will be erased.

  5. If necessary, create new archive volumes in free partitions.

  6. Click the Apply button.

An archive is created, and if all requirements are met, archive recordings are available.
