If you install Axxon PSIM on a computer where an earlier version is used, then the installation will be performed in the updating mode.

Important to know before updating Axxon PSIM:

  1. Before updating, we recommend you to back up all databases that you use—see use—see Creating the database backup copy. Also, copy and save the psim.sec license file (located in the root of the Axxon PSIM installation directory, by default: C:\Program Files/Axxon PSIM).
  2. Axxon PSIM can be updated if there is a difference in the third digit of the version number and the first two digits are the same. If the first and/or second digits are different, you must reinstall Axxon PSIM instead instead of updating, i.e. , that is, uninstall the previous version and install the new one.
    Examples:
    1. you can update from version 1.0.1 to version 1.0.2;
    2. you cannot update from version 1.0.1 to 1.2.0, you need to reinstall.
  3. Before starting the update, you must stop Axxon PSIM  must be uploaded, if it is running.
  4. You must run the update as a Windows Administratoradministrator.
  5. When you update Axxon PSIM on the Server server or Remote Administrator’s workstation, you should must also update Axxon PSIM on Remote Clientclient. The compatible versions of Axxon PSIM should must be installed on Remote Clients and on Serverserver/Remote Administrator’s workstation, i.e. , that is, the first two digits of the version number should must be the same (e.g. for example, versions 1.1 and 1.2 aren't compatible, but versions 1.0.1 and 1.0.3 are compatible).
  6. You can update Axxon PSIM 1.0 to Axxon PSIM 2.0. This process requires manual configuration. For detailed information on updating, please contact technical support.

To update Axxon PSIM, do the following:

  1. Unpack the installation kit as described in Getting ready for Axxon PSIM installation. The destination folder will show the contents of the kit.

  2. Run the setup.exe file to start the Axxon PSIM installation procedure.
    As a result, a window for choosing the Installation wizard language will be displayed.
  3. Choose the language of theInstallation wizard and click the Install button.

    As a result, the Type of installation window will be displayed.
  4. Choose the type of installation needed.

  5. To log all installation events, set the Enable full installation log (increases product installation time) checkbox.

  6. Click the Next button.
    The Selecting components for installation window will be displayed.

  7. Set the checkboxes next to the components that you want to install.

  8. Click the Install button.
    The selected prerequisites and drivers will be installed.

    During the installation process, you will be prompted to remove the installed vertical solutions:

    1. If you click the Yes button, the vertical solutions will be removed during the update process. In this case, you will need to reinstall them after the update. Installation manuals are available in the documentation for each solution, links are on the main documentation page for Axxon PSIM 1.0.0-1.0.1. You must also take into account the compatibility of versions: General information about product releases and versions compatibility.

    2. If you click the No button, the vertical solutions won't be removed and will be compatible with the new version of Axxon PSIM after the update.

    When prerequisites and drivers are installed, the window of Axxon PSIM update will be displayed.

  9. Click the Next button.
    The window for selecting the type of update will be displayed.

  10. Select one of the suggested types of update. The types of update are described in the table below:

  11. Click the Next button.
    When the system is configured, installation of Axxon PSIM starts.

    When updating Axxon PSIM on Windows OS 7 SP1 without Internet an internet connection, an error may can occur during the installation of the drivers for the FX4 card. To eliminate this error, install the following missing Windows updates:

  12. As a result, the Update Complete window will be displayed.

  13. Click the Finish button.

    Then the DriversPack will be installed if you selected this component.

    The Installation complete window will be displayed. It contains the information about Axxon PSIM components mode (installed or not).

  14. Click the Finish button.
    A window prompting to restart the computer will be displayed.

    To correctly finish the installation of Axxon PSIM, you must restart the computer. If you don’t choose to restart now, you will have to do it yourself after the installation.
