General information about PTZ

You can configure the PTZ object (PTZ camera) on the Devices tab. The PTZ object is displayed in the objects object tree as a child of the child object to the camera, if it is the PTZ camera.

To configure the PTZ device of the camera, do the following:

Camera object.

PTZ configuration

To configure the PTZ camera, do the following:

  1. Go to the Devices tab.
  2. Select the PTZ object in the object tree. If necessary, you can change the values of the parameters that are listed in the table:

NoneThe Tag&Track Pro feature is disabled. You can control the camera only manually
ManualThe operator initiates manual tracking. To begin tracking, select an object's track in the surveillance window. If you click an area of the frame without an object's track, tracking immediately stops and the camera redirects (aims) to the specified point. This is suitable for targeted monitoring of a single specific object, when the operator needs full control over the start and end of tracking
    Automatic

The system automatically detects and sequentially tracks all active objects within the camera's field of view, switching between them at a preset switching frequency (the Switch Frequency parameter). This is suitable for situations when continuous coverage of the entire scene is required without operator intervention, such as on a perimeter during non-working hours

User priorityThe system starts working in automatic mode, tracking all objects. Once the operator selects a specific track, the system switches to manual tracking mode. After the operator deselects the track or the system loses the target, the system automatically returns to tracking all objects. This is the most balanced and recommended mode. It combines the advantages of automatic operation (constant visibility) and manual control (quick switching to a priority target upon operator command)
Manual PTZ controlThe operator can manually control the PTZ camera at any time for a detailed inspection of the area. Once manual control is stopped (after a short delay of inactivity), the feature returns to automatic operation. This provides maximum flexibility. It allows the operator to intervene in the automatic operation to check for suspicious activity without disabling the tracking function

Binding overview cameras to a PTZ camera and configuring calibration for the Tag&Track Pro feature

To use the automatic tracking feature Tag&Track Pro, you must create a logical connection between overview cameras and PTZ cameras, as well as set up precise positional correspondence between their fields of view. To do this, do the following:

  1. In the Tagtrack cameras section:
    1. Click the Image Added button.
    2. Select the required overview camera from the list. To search for a camera, enter the Short name or Name (full or partial, see Camera). This parameter is case-sensitive.
  2. In the surveillance window of a PTZ camera, focus on any point:
    1. In the upper right corner, click the Image Added button.
    2. Place the cursor in the middle of the frame, hold down the left mouse button, and move the cursor so that the object that you want to track is in the center of the frame.
  3. In the surveillance window of the Overview camera:
    1. Left-click the point corresponding to the current position of the PTZ camera. A Calibration point Image Added is added to the surveillance window. To delete a calibration point, click the Delete Image Added button.
    2. Set at least six calibration points in the surveillance window of the overview camera, focusing on different points in the surveillance window of the PTZ camera.
      Note
      titleAttention!
      • Setting calibration points is mandatory. Without this, the overview camera will not be bound to the PTZ camera.
      • We recommend setting 6 to 10 points. Adding more points can improve accuracy but also increases the risk of errors, which will degrade the overall performance of the feature.
      • The points must not be in a straight line in both the overview and PTZ cameras. They must be evenly distributed across the entire frame.
      • All points must be in the same plane (floor, ground). We don't recommend placing points in different planes (for example, some points on the ground and others on walls or poles).
  4. Click the Apply Image Added button.
  5. Test the calibration:
    1. In the upper right corner from the surveillance window of the Overview camera, click the Image Added button.
    2. Click each created calibration point in the surveillance window of the Overview camera. If the PTZ camera accurately positions itself at each selected point, the calibration is correct.
  6. Repeat the steps for each required overview camera.

Binding overview cameras to a PTZ camera and configuring calibration for the Tag&Track Pro feature is complete:

  • You have created logical connections between overview cameras and the PTZ camera that performs tracking.
  • You have set up the precise correspondence between the position of the PTZ camera and points in the field of view of each overview camera.
