The main task of the Server is receiving and processing of video signals. It provides several options: audio signal receiving and processing, PTZ control, security services, user’s auto functions (macros), etc. Server setup sequence depends on its hardware configuration and the options to be realized.
To configure the Server, follow the steps:
- Sync the Server database with other Servers and Remote Admin Workstation databases (for example, via the centralized database of the administering Server, see INTELLECT™ software database management section).
- Start the INTELLECT™ program on the Server.
- With remote Server setup (e.g., from the administering Server), register the Computer object, which corresponds to the Server, and set the interaction parameters with the Servers, Remote Admin Workstations, Remote Monitoring Workstations of the distributed video surveillance system (see Configuration of distributed architecture section). While local setting up the Server the relevant Computer object is created automatically in the Hardware tab during the first startup.
- Configure the Server video subsystem (see Configuring video subsystem section).
- Configure the Server audio subsystem if there are microphones (see Configuring audio subsystem section).
- If there are sensors and relays, create and configure the relevant objects (see Installing and configuring security system components guide).
- Configure backup video archiving on the Server, if necessary (see Configuring backup archiving section).
- Configure the hardware performance tester and restart service, enable and configure the notification services (see Notification services and Configuring the System restart service sections).
- If auto options are to be used, create the macros and time zones (see Creating and using macros and Creating and using time zones sections).
- If the Server is to be used as the Operator’s workstation, configure the user interface: video surveillance monitor, audio player, map etc. (see Configuring the user interface section).
- Assign the users rights to work with Server system objects (see Rights administration section).
- Set up logging of events registered for the Server system objects (see Configuring the Event Viewer).
