Archive calculation is available only if the Server and Server with viewing client calculation types are selected — see Selecting the type of calculation. Also it is necessary that at least one stream is selected for recording — see Selecting the cameras.

The archive can be calculated with or without RAID.

Calculation without RAID

To calculate the disk space without RAID, select No RAID calculation.

Set the calculation parameters:

  1. Archive, days — the required archive depth in days.
  2. Hours per day — the average number of hours per day during which it is planned to record into the archive. 24 hours a day means permanent recording.

Calculation with RAID

To calculate the disk space with RAID, do the following:

  1. Set the parameters of the archive depth and the average number of hours per day during which it is planned to record into the archive.
Archive, days — the required archive depth in days.
Hours per day — the average number of hours per day during which it is planned to record into the archive. 24 hours a day means permanent recording.

  2.  On the RAID level tab select the RAID level (1). The following options are available:

    1. JBOD simple consolidation of disks, which is not a RAID level.
    2. RAID-0 RAID 0, an array of disks with data striping.
    3. RAID-1   RAID 1, an array of disks with data mirroring.
    4. RAID-10 RAID 10, an array of disks with mirroring and striping.
    5. RAID-5 — RAID 5, an array of disks with block-level striping and one checksum.
    6. RAID-6 RAID 6, an array of disks with block-level striping and two checksums.
  3. Specify the Disk size (2) in the selected units (GB or TB). It is assumed that RAID will be built on the basis of disks of the specified size. The calculation results indicate the required number of disks and other RAID parameters (see Platform calculation results for Server and Server with viewing client).
  4. Specify Maximum number of disks per RAID group (3). Range of available values is specific to the chosen RAID level.
  5. Specify Number of hot spare disks per server (4). Available values are natural numbers in range  from 0 up to 100.

    Note

More detailed information on  RAID options can be found on page Description of RAID levels.

Partners platform calculation

On the Select a platform vendor and video archive parameters section select the appropriate Partner's tab (1) and set the parameters (2) of the archive depth and the average number of hours per day during which it is planned to record into the archive.
