General information

Hot keys are used to quickly perform actions in the client using a standard keyboard or joystick. They allow users to work more efficiently by minimizing the use of the mouse.

Hot key settings are grouped into six functional modes:

1. Global: actions that are available in all system modes.
2. Live Video display mode: actions that are available when you work with live video
3. Archive viewing and search in archive mode: actions to play back and analyze the recorded video in the archive.
4. Time Compressor mode: actions to work with fast archive viewing.
5. Alarm classification mode: actions to process and confirm alarm events.
6. Programming: actions to set up schedules, detectors, and other system functions.

General settings

Before you start assigning hot keys, note the following rules:

• Keys/key combinations that are assigned in the Global function, cannot be used in other functions.
• There are default key combinations for important actions that are set in the Global function, and you cannot change them.
• You cannot assign the same key or key combination to different actions within one function (for example, Alarm classification mode).
• You can assign the same key/key combinations to different actions in different functions (for example, the Ctrl+V key combination in the Alarm classification mode and in the Live Video display mode will perform different actions).
• You can use hot keys only after you completely start the client (see Starting the client).
• When you use a standard keyboard, you can assign letter and number keys only in combination with modifiers (Ctrl, Alt, Shift).
• When the Settings tab is active, only the Activate configuration panel action is active from the Global function of all hot keys.

To configure hot keys, do the following:

1. Go to the Settings tab → Options → Hot keys.
2. In the Input devices column, select an input device from the drop-down list.
3. Click the button.
4. In the Functions column, select the required function:
   1. Global.
   2. Live Video display mode.
   3. Archive viewing and search in archive mode.
   4. Time Compressor mode.
   5. Alarm classification mode.
   6. Programming.
5. Assign values for required actions:
   • To add a key/button/key combination/button combination, you must select a line with the required action and press the required key or key combination on the keyboard or joystick.
   • To clear the value, select the line with action and double left-click the current value.
   • To select the value, select the line with action and left-click the current value.
   • If there is no value in the line, then a hot key/button/key combination/button combination isn't assigned to this action.
6. Click the Apply  button.

Configuring hot keys is complete. Tables below provide a full list of actions and default values.

When you press certain key combinations, you can open a dialog window, in which you must:

1. Enter the numerical value of a camera/layout/monitor.
   
2. Click the OK button.

Input is complete.

Exporting hot keys

To export hot keys, do the following:

1. Go to the Options tab → the Hot keys item.
2. Click the Save to file... button.
3. Select the place of file storage.
4. Enter the file name.
5. Click the Save button.

Exporting hot keys is complete. As a result, the hot keys settings are imported as a file in the XML format.

Importing hot keys

To import hot keys, do the following:

1. Go to the Options tab → the Hot keys item.
2. Click the Load from file... button.
3. Select the file in the XML format with the hot keys settings and click the Open button. As a result, the settings are imported to the client.
4. Click the Apply  button.

Importing hot keys is complete.

Configuring joystick

To configure a joystick, do the following:

1. Connect a joystick to the computer.
2. Calibrate a joystick.
3. Go to the Settings tab → the Options tab → the Hot keys item.
4. In the Input device column, select a joystick from the drop-down list.
5. Click the  button.
6. Set up the hot keys and click the Apply  button.
7. Set the sensitivity of control commands of the PTZ device:
   1. Open the <Joystick_name>.xml joystick configuration file using a text editor that is located in C:\Users\<User_name>\AppData\Local\AxxonSoft\AxxonOne\HotKeysXmlConfigurationFiles.
   2. Set the sensitivity of the control commands in the <Sensitivity>0.2</Sensitivity> parameter in the range from 0.0 (low sensitivity) to 1.0 (high sensitivity). Commands supporting the sensitivity setup:

      We highly don't recommend setting values out of the range 0.0–1.0 and editing other parameters in the XML file. If there is no <Sensitivity>0.2</Sensitivity> parameter in the file, do the following: Go to the Settings tab → the Options tab → the Hot keys item. In the Input device column, select a joystick from the drop-down list. Click the button next to the joystick. Click the Apply button. Add and configure the joystick again.

   3. Save changes in the file.

Configuring joystick is complete.

CH VM - Desktop USB security keyboard

The CH VM-Desktop USB keyboard is a specialized control device that includes the following elements:

1. Three-position joystick (J1, J2): to control the PTZ camera and optical zoom.
2. Jog Dial rotary switch (J3, J4): to navigate in the archive.
3. 27 keys: 10 numeric keys, *, #, B1, B2 and 13 programmable keys (C1–C13). You cannot reprogram keys in Axxon One.
   
   You can control functions using the keyboard within the active monitor. The active monitor is the main monitor (if the additional monitors are disabled or inactive) or the additional monitor that is active at this current moment (see Managing monitors on a local Client). You can select the active monitor only by using the mouse. If the mouse is unavailable, the device controls cameras only on the main monitor. The table below provides the description of actions assigned to the default keys:

   Live Video display mode
   J4	Opens/closes the camera iris
   1	Starts/stops the camera patrolling by the specified routes (see Patrolling)
   2,3	Increases/decreases the focal distance
   B2	If any surveillance window is active on the layout, the system switches only to the archive of this camera. If you press the key again, the system switches to the live mode. If there are no active surveillance windows on the layout, the system switches to the archive for all cameras on the layout (see Switching to the Archive Mode)
   Archive viewing and search in archive mode
   J3 (counterclockwise rotation)	Moves to the previous frame sequentially until the key is released. If you enable playback, the action is ignored
   J3 (clockwise rotation)	Moves to the next frame sequentially until the key is released. If you enable playback, the action is ignored
   J4 (counterclockwise rotation)	When you hold down the key, the system switches to the previous recordings until the key is released
   J4 (clockwise rotation)	When you hold down the key, the system switches to the next recordings until the key is released
   С11	Decreases the video playback speed. Each click decreases the speed by X2 (see Navigating using the Playback panel)
   С12	Stops/starts the video playback
   С13	Increases the video playback speed. Each click increases the speed by X2 (see Navigating using the Playback panel)
   С9	Opens/closes a calendar to select the date and time of a recording
   B2	Switches to the live mode (see Switching to Live mode)
   Alarm classification mode
   B2	Switches to the live mode (see Switching to Live mode)
   С1	Sets the False alarm status for the current event
   С2	Sets the Suspicious situation status for the current event
   С3	Sets the Confirmed alarm status for the current event
   In any mode
   J1	Controls the PTZ of the selected camera. If a camera doesn't support the PTZ, the action is ignored
   J2	Controls the optical zoom of the selected camera. If a camera doesn't support the PTZ, the action is ignored
   * n #	Activates a camera on the layout. n is the number (short name) of a camera (see Camera). If there is a camera with the specified number (short name) on the current layout, then the corresponding surveillance window becomes active. If there is no such camera on the current layout, the minimal layout containing this camera opens. In other cases, no actions occur in the system
   # n #	Switches to the layout. n is the layout ID (see Setting a layout ID)
   С10	Resets the entered value. If you don't complete entering the number of a camera or layout (the # isn't pressed), then if you press the С10 button, the system resets the entered number
   С4	Enables the classification mode or initiates an alarm (see Switching to the Alarm management mode)
   С5	Increases the size of the current layout cell
   С6	Decreases the size of the current layout cell
   С7	Switches to the previous layout
   С8	Switches to the next layout
   If calendar opened
   B1, B2	Switches to the previous B1 or to the next B2 (days → hours → minutes → seconds, see Navigating using the Timeline)
   J3	Enters the seleted value in the calendar (day, hour, minute, second)
   J4	Switches to the previous/next month (see Navigating using the Timeline)
