Functionalities (configuration) of the system are restricted by the license key supplied together with the Axxon PSIM software installation package. The use of the license key is described in the Installing and removing Axxon PSIM software section. The license key is required when you install Axxon PSIM with the server or the Remote Administrator’s workstation installation type. When you select the Remote Client installation type, the license key isn't required.

The license key activates system functionalities. When you expand system configuration (for example, if it is necessary to use a subsystem that isn't included in the basic configuration) to enable functionalities of the program module corresponding to the installed subsystem, you must replace the previous license key with a new one, which will restrict the updated system functionalities.

Replacement of the previous license key with a new license key provides the availability of the updated set of functional subsystems at a subsequent system startup.

Attention!

Restarting Axxon PSIM after replacing the activation key is mandatory. If Axxon PSIM is installed as a service, restart the AxxonSoft Axxon PSIM Core Server service (see also Working with Windows OS services for operating Axxon PSIM installed as a Service).

In the distributed system the configuration of each computer is determined not only by the computer’s license key but also by the license keys of other computers that are within the distributed system. Thus, the maximum functionalities of each computer in the system are determined by the license key that limits the minimum capabilities relative to other license keys in the distributed system. Therefore, we recommend using the same license key on all computers in the distributed system.

The license key is bound to the computer hardware. You can bind to the hardware in one of the following ways:

  1. Binding to the Guardant hardware dongle of one of the following types:
    1. Guardant Stealth II;
    2. Guardant Sign;
  2. Binding to the MatrixLock hardware dongle;
  3. Binding to dallas-codes of video capture cards with cryptochip (FS5\6\8\16, WS7\17) of AxxonSoft production;
  4. Binding to the computer hardware (HID).

Attention!

To bind the license key, we recommend using Guardant or MatrixLock. These methods are the most convenient, since they don't depend on the computer hardware (HID). If you use Guardant and MatrixLock dongles, card replacement won't cause errors.
