The following restrictions are imposed in Axxon PSIM when you build video surveillance and audio control systems:

  1. The maximum number of PTZ devices (analog) that are used on one computer is 64. For IP devices, this number is limited by the server hardware resources.
  2. The maximum number of Display objects assigned for one computer is 500.
  3. The maximum number of video input channels for video signal processing in the live video and/or multiplexing modes is limited by the server hardware resourcesprocessor power, RAM memory space, and so on.
  4. The maximum number of simultaneously output analog video signals is limited by the number of video capture cards (with analog video outputs) used on the server.
  5. The maximum number of remote workstations connected to the server to receive videos is limited by the number and parameters of transmitted video signals, video surveillance system architecture, and network bandwidth.
  6. The maximum number of servers, video signals from which are transmitted simultaneously to a remote workstation, is limited by the number and parameters of transmitted video signals, video surveillance system architecture, and network bandwidth.
  7. The maximum number of video images simultaneously displayed on the screen of a remote workstation is limited by video image parameters and network bandwidth.
  8. The maximum video stream rate transmitted via a videogate is limited by the videogate hardware parameters and network bandwidth.
  9. The maximum number of audio output channels (to the loudspeakers, headpiece, and so on) depends on the audio card used for playback.
  10. If you need to use more than 25 Tracker objects on one server with a video resolution over 800x600, you must enable 64-bit modules.
  11. Digitization bandwidth depends on the audio card parameters and software limitation from 0 to 48 000 Hz.
  12. To correctly record audio from Axis IP cameras when you use the AAC audio codec, do not set the audio bitrate to 8 or 12 kbps at a sampling frequency of 8 kHz: the bitrate must be 16, 24, 32, 48, or 64 kbps.
  13. To correctly record audio from Sony IP cameras, don't use the G.726 audio codec; you must use the G.711 codec instead.
  14. Different servers are not allowed to be connected to one database. Use of a remote database by a server is allowed, but it can cause increased requirements for the network and other resources and can cause delays when sending events and states between cores that can affect the system.
  15. You must install the same version of Axxon PSIM, including the build number, on all components of the distributed system.
  16. We recommend leaving the Decompressor field empty on the settings panel of the Camera object or using the Motion Wavelet decompressor when you use WS7 and WS17 video capture cards. Correct operation of Axxon PSIM is not guaranteed if you select other decompressors.
  17. Partial decompression is possible when you use MPEG4, MJPEG, MXPEG, Motion Wavelet, and H264svc codecs. Partial decompression for H263, H264AVC, and MPEG-2 codecs is not supported. For H264svc-t, only FPS reduction is supported.
  18. If you select the MPEG4 format of recording to archive, the loss of a part of the video record is possible (about 0.5 seconds from the video recording beginning).
  19. If the Recording frame rate parameter (the Camera object, the Basic settings tab) is set to non-zero, regardless of its value, recording to the archive is performed only by key frames if the H.264 codec is used. If the Hot record rate parameter for the H.264 codec is also used, then the recording to the archive is performed by key frames too. If the Recording frame rate parameter is set to 0 or not set, all frames are recorded to the archive.
  20. If 64-bit modules are used, the following items are not supported:
    1. Some detectors from DetectorPack (at the moment of writing the documentationthe Barcode detector only).
    2. Arena module and Auto-Uragan license plate recognition as parts of Auto PSIM.
    3. ACFA PSIM modules.
  21. Decimation on videogate can be performed using MJPEG, Motion Wavelet, MPEG, H.264, and MxPEG codecs. If the decimation rate is 25 FPS, then the first minute of video is displayed at a lower speed (~12 FPS). For the MXPeg codec, the maximum allowed decimation rate is 12 FPS.
  22. The web server displays video only in MJPEG format. When transferring video to the web server, the video stream is recompressed to MJPEG format.
  23. It is required to add the web server address to the Java exceptions in order for the web server to work with JRE 7u51 or later versions.
  24. Video streams transferred via RTSP Server must be compressed using H.264, H.265, MPEG4, or MJPEG codecs. Videos with a width and/or height of more than 2048 pixels are not supported when the MJPEG codec is used.
  25. Use of more than 100 scripts/programs on one computer can cause system instability.
  26. Only files of WAV format can be used as the Play audio file action parameter of the Audio player object. Otherwise, the Play audio file action is not performed.
  27. The External window object is specialized in working with single-window apps. If the app contains several windows, then all of them are opened simultaneously when the app is started.
  28. PureVideo/CUDA technology in Axxon PSIM is applied only for video signal decompression in the H.264 codec. PureVideo/CUDA technology is not used for video signal compression if a resolution more than 1920x1088 is set in the camera.
  29. Recording to the archive is performed only in the color mode if the SC590N4 video capture card with the H.264 format of video signal compression is used. The black-and-white mode is not supported.
  30. Video display on the server using SC3B0N16 (WS216) and SC390N16 (WS16) cards is performed only with 352x288(PAL)/352x240(NTSC) resolution.
  31. Only key frames are played back when the archive is played back fast in H264 and MPEG4 formats.
  32. Video signals are not transferred to PSIM-based vertical modules using the Videogate module. These modules always receive video signals directly, like other modules.

  33. There is no sound transmission to the remote workstation via the Videogate if different subnets are used.
  34. When working with Axxon PSIM, do not use power-saving modes, such as sleep mode or a “Power saver” power plan, so that the CPU clock speed does not get lower than the base speed.
  35. Axxon PSIM supports NVIDIA® Mosaic™ multi-display technology only when used in conjunction with NVIDIA Quadro Sync (see the relevant NVIDIA documentation). Without NVIDIA Quadro Sync, video playback time can vary by ~10-200 ms between monitors.
