Configuration of server

The main task of the server is receiving and processing video signals. In addition, the server can receive and process audio signals, control PTZ devices connected to cameras, provide security services and users' auto functions (macros), etc. The server configuration sequence depends on its hardware configuration and requirements for implementing additional functions.

To configure the server, follow the steps:

1. Start Axxon PSIM on the server (see Operator's Guide).
2. With remote server configuration (for example, from the administration server), register the Computer object that corresponds to the server and set the interaction parameters with the servers, remote administrator's workstation, and remote clients of the distributed video surveillance system (see Configuration of distributed architecture). When you configure a server locally, a Computer object corresponding to the server is automatically created on the Hardware tab at first startup.
3. Configure hardware that is connected to the server (see Configuration of hardware). This includes the following steps:
   
   1. Configure the server video subsystem (see Configuring video subsystem).
   2. Configure the server audio subsystem if there are microphones (see Configuring audio subsystem).
   3. If there are sensors and relays, create and configure the relevant objects (see Guide for installing and configuring security system components).
   4. Configure backup video archiving on the server, if necessary (see Configuring backup archiving).
   5. Configure the hardware performance tester and restart service, enable and configure the notification services (see Notification services and Configuring the System restart service).
   6. Set up logging of events registered for the server system objects (see Configuration of event logging).
4. If you want to use the server as the operator's workstation, configure the user interface: video surveillance monitor, audio player, map, and so on (see Configuring the user interface).
5. Assign the users rights to work with server system objects (see Configuration of users and rights).
6. If you want to use automatic features, create the macros, time schedules, and so on (see System settings (the Programming tab)).
