Documentation for Intellect 4.11.0-4.11.3. Documentation for other versions of Intellect is available too.
Starting the Service
Intellect, installed as a Service, is started before user authorization in Windows OS and before Windows applications are launched (including the Explorer application which is used for starting such applications as Windows OS and various other applications installed on the Server). The Intellect Core Server service performs the start. The Intellect Core Server service is created when Intellect is installed as a Service. By default, the intellect.exe executable module is used to start Intellect.
Note
When you work with Intellect installed as a Service, you can shut down Intellect normally, while the service remains running, and Intellect can be restarted.
Note
If intellect64.exe must be started when the Intellect Core Server service starts, you need to change the value of the core_module_name registry key (see Registry keys reference guide) and restart the service.
Users
When installing Intellect as a Service in Windows, the IntellectUsers user group will be created, and the user who performed the installation will be added to this group. To add other users to the IntellectUser group, use Windows OS means. The users in the IntellectUsers group have the rights to configure Intellect installed as a Service and access its interfaces. When it is necessary to provide the access to Intellect interfaces for a large number of users, it may be convenient to use the Active Directory (AD) service—see Configuring Intellect as a Service to work with Active Directory (AD).
Note
To start Intellect as a different user, you must either assign administrator rights to this user, or increase the rights, as described in OS settings for correct operation of Remote Admin Workstation or Server.
Note
When a user from the IntellectUsers group logs in, Intellect restarts as this user. If you don't want to start Intellect as this user (in other words, Intellect must remain running as the SYSTEM user), disable the restart using the Tweaki.exe utility—see The Settings panel of the Windows section.
Note
If Intellect is running as some user (not as SYSTEM), if you change the user to any other user without logging out the first user, Intellect won't restart. It will remain running as the first user.
Access to the database
If Intellect is installed as a Service, and the database connection is performed using Windows credentials, then to work as any user different from the user who installed Intellect, it is necessary that this user have the corresponding SQL server permissions.
