The following restrictions are imposed in the Axxon PSIM software package when building video surveillance and audio control systems:

  1. Maximum ptz devices (analog) which are in use on one computer is 64. For IP-devices, this number is limited by the Server hardware resources.
  2. Maximum Screen objects assigned for one computer is 500.
  3. Maximum number of video input channels for videosignal processing in the live video and/or multiplexing modes is limited by the Server hardware resources – processor power, RAM memory space, etc.
  4. Maximum number of simultaneous output analog videosignals is limited by the number of video capture cards (with analog video outputs) in use on the Server.
  5. Maximum number of remote workstations connected to the Server to receive videos is limited by the number and parameters of transmitted videosignals, video surveillance system architecture and network bandwidth.
  6. Maximum number of Servers, videosignals from which are transmitted simultaneously to a remote workstation, is limited by the number and parameters of transmitted videosignals, video surveillance system architecture and network bandwidth.
  7. Maximum number of simultaneous video images displayed on the screen of a remote work station is limited by video image parameters and network bandwidth.
  8. Maximum video stream rate transmitted via a videogate is limited by the videogate hardware parameters and network bandwidth.
  9. Maximum number of audio output channels (to the loudspeakers, earphones, etc.) depends on the audio card used for playback.
  10. Enable 64-bit modules if more than 25 Tracker objects are to be used on one Server with video resolution higher than 800x600.
  11. Digitization bandwidth depends on the audio card parameters and software limitation from 0 to 48 000 Hz.
  12. Do not set the bitrate value 8 or 12 kb/s when sampling frequency is 8 kHz for correct sound registration from Axis IP-cameras using the AAC codec; it is recommended to use the bitrate value equals to 16, 24, 32, 48 or 64 kb/s.
  13. Use the G.711 audio codec instead of G.726 codec for correct sound registration from Sony IP cameras.
  14. Different Servers are not allowed to be connected to one database. Use of remote database by Server is allowed but it can cause increased requirements to the network and others resources and may cause delays when sending events and states between cores that can affect the system.
  15. Axxon PSIM software package of one version is to be installed on all components of distributed system.
  16. It is recommended to leave Decompressor field empty on the settings panel of the Camera object or use the Motion Wavelet decompressor when using WS7 and WS17 video capture cards. Correct operation of Axxon PSIM software is not guaranteed if other decompressors are selected.
  17. Partial decompression is possible when using MPEG4, MJPEG, MXPEG, Motion Wavelet and H264svc codecs. Partial decompression for H263, H264avc and Mpeg2 codecs is not supported. Fps decreasing only is supported by H264svc-t codec.
  18. If the MPEG4 format of recording to archive is selected, the loss of video record part is possible (about 0.5 seconds from the video recording beginning).
  19. If the Recording frame rate parameter (Camera object, Basic settings tab) is set to non-zero, regardless of its value of recording to the archive is performed only by anchor frames if H.264 codec is in use. If the Hot record rate parameter for H.264 codec is also in use, then the recording to the archive will be performed by anchor frames too. If the Recording frame rate parameter is set to 0 or not set, all frames are recorded to the archive.
  20. If 64-bits modules are in use the following items are not supported:
    1. The Scene object (see Configuring object's panoramic view by means of the Scene object).
    2. Some detection tools from DetectorPack (at the moment of writing the documentation − the barcode detection tool only).
    3. Arena module and Auto-Uragan license plate recognition as a part of Auto PSIM.
    4. ACFA PSIM modules.
  21. Grooming on Videogate can be performed using MJPEG, Motion Wavelet, MPEG, H.264 and MxPeg codecs. If the grooming rate is 25 fps, then the first minute of video will be displayed at lower speed (~12 fps). For MXPeg codec the maximum allowed grooming rate is 12 fps.
  22. Web server displays video only in MJPEG format. When transferring video to the Web server video stream is recompressed to MJPEG format.
  23. It is required to add Web server address to the Java exceptions in order to Web server work with JRE 7u51 or later versions.
  24. Video stream transferred via RTSP Server is to be compressed using H.264, H.265, MPEG4 or MJPEG codecs. Video with width and/or height more than 2048 pixels is not supported when MJPEG codec is in use.
  25. Use of more than 100 scripts/programs on one computer may cause system instability.
  26. Only files of WAV format can be in use as the Play audio file action parameter of the Audio player object. Otherwise, the Play audio file action is not performed.
  27. The External window object is specialized on working with onebox applications. If the application contains several boxes, then all of them will be opened simultaneously when application is started.
  28. PureVideo/CUDA technology in the Axxon PSIM software is applied only for video signals decompression in H.264 codec. PureVideo/CUDA technology is not used for video signal compression if resolution more than 1920x1088 is set in the camera.
  29. Recording to the archive is performed only in the color mode if SC590N4 video capture card with h.264 format of video signal compression is in use. The black-and-white mode is not supported.
  30. Video displaying on Server using SC3B0N16 (WS216) and SC390N16 (WS16) cards is performed only with 352x288(PAL)/352x240(NTSC) resolution.
  31. Only key frames are played back when the archive is played back fast in H264 and MPEG4 formats.
  32. Video signals are not transferred to PSIM-based vertical modules using the Videogate module. These modules always receive video signal directly like other modules.

  33. There is no sound transmission to the RMW via the Videogate if different subnets are in use.
  34. When working with Axxon PSIM, do not use power-saving modes, such as sleep mode or a “Power saver” power plan, so that the CPU clockspeed does not get lower that the base speed.
  35. Axxon PSIM does not support NVIDIA® Mosaic™ multi-display technology.
