Axxon PSIM system allows creating multilevel maps comprised of several layers.

In case of multiple layers, the links should be established between the layers. These links help move to other layers for operative control and viewing of the device objects located on them.

The links are created in the Map editor. To run the Map editor, click Edit selected layer in the settings panel of the Layer object. When a link is established, a special symbol appears on the map. Clicking on this symbol takes the operator from the current layer to another layer.

Note.

The link symbols also notify the operator about alarms coming from devices located on the linked layer.

To create a new link from the current layer to another, do the following:

  1. Select Links in the Map editor main menu, then select Add link with layer.

The Link to layer window opens, allowing to choose the layer to link to.
There is another way of opening the Link to layer window. In the Map editor, click anywhere on the layer map. The context menu will open. Select Add link with layer from this menu.
  2. Do the following in the Link to layer window:

    1. If the switch to the layer of another map is to be performed, then select the required Map object in the Link dropdown list (1). If the switch to the layer of the same map is to be performed, then select an empty value in the dropdown list.

      Note.

The layer of another map is opened in this map box and not in the box where there is the layer the switch is performed from.

    2. Select a layer the switch is to be performed to (2).
    3. Enter the name for this link in the Link name field (3).
    4. If the link on the map is to be displayed as a polygon, set the Polygon checkbox checked (4).

      Note.

The color and shape of the polygon are set after adding it to the layer. By default, the link is represented by a green hexagon.

    5. If the selected layer the switch will be performed to, is on another map, then in the Color of active layer dropdown list select the color the link will be marked when this layer is active on the map (5).
    6. Click the OK button to create the link (6).

A symbol will appear on the map representing the link. The icon of the link is represented by a red triangle or a polygon if the Polygon checkbox was checked (see step 2.d):

The feature menu appears when right clicking the polygon holding down the Ctrl key. The following features are available:

  1. Add apex – add a new apex to the polygon. A new apex appears when selecting this menu item. One is to locate it left clicking on the map.
  2. Properties – display the properties panel of the icon on the right of the Map editor. Using this panel one can set the color and opacity of the normal and alarm states of the layer icon, as well as configure whether to hide frame limiting the polygon.

By default, the symbol of connection with this layer starts to flash if alarm is detected on the layer. If additional indication is required it is possible to configure alarm symbol of connection with layer. To do this place the file link_alarm.bmp containing some image characterizing alarm on the layer to the <Axxon PSIM installation directory>/Bmp folder. If such file is in the Bmp folder then symbol of connection with this layer will changed to image from the link_alarm.bmp file and start to flash while alarm on this layer.

Note.

If the link with the layer is represented by the polygon, then it starts changing its color (blinking) when there is an alarm on the layer.
