Video stream settings
You can configure video streams below the Surveillance window.
If the camera supports multistreaming, then when creating a camera, the stream with a higher resolution is selected as the main stream.
It is also possible to separately configure video streams: the Main stream and the Second stream. If necessary, you can configure additional video streams (third, fourth, etc.) using the Add video stream field.
In most cases, the following parameters are set for each stream:
- bitrate,
- compression rate,
- frame rate,
- resolution.
Detailed information on configurable parameters can be found in the official reference documentation for the camera.
Note
You cannot edit stream parameters if the camera was added in the Keep current settings mode (i.e. with the parameters that were set in the web interface, see Adding and removing IP devices). To be able to configure these parameters, you need to set the Send settings to device checkbox (see Camera).
By default, all added camera video streams are enabled. If necessary, you can disable the second, third and other additional video streams by selecting No in the Enable field. The main video stream of the camera is activated by default and cannot be disabled.
The Use for GreenStream parameter is designed to display video streams in Auto (GreenStream)/High quality/Low quality modes (see Selecting video stream quality in a Surveillance window (GreenStream)).
Set one of the following values:
- Yes, to display the video stream in these modes.
- No, to exclude the stream from display in these modes.
If you configure video streams in the camera web interface, it is necessary to set the real value of the expected frame rate in the corresponding field to correctly display the video stream status on the Health Board (see Viewing camera status).
Attention!
- You can select any video stream for recording into archive and displaying in the Surveillance window (see Selecting video stream quality in a Surveillance window (GreenStream), Configuring recording to an archive).
- For some detection tools, you can select any video stream on which you want to perform detection (see Detectors).
Changing the camera video streams
In Axxon One, each stream is assigned a corresponding video camera stream profile, for example:
Stream indication in Axxon One | Camera stream profile (profile name is determined by the driver) |
Main | 0. video_streaming_h264_QSXGA |
Second | 1. video_streaming_h264_VGA |
Third | 2. video_streaming_mjpeg |
If necessary, you can change the profile for the stream, in this case:
- if a profile has already been added as a main or additional stream, the parameters of one stream are replaced with the parameters of the other;
- if a profile has not yet been added as a main or additional stream, the parameters of this video stream are changed to the default parameters.
Note
When some video stream parameters are changed, the camera can automatically restart, in which case it will become unavailable for some time (depending on the camera).
You can also change the video stream settings by sending an HTTP request to the device (see the manufacturer's official documentation) using macros (see Execute web query, Run external application on server, Run external application on client).
