Automatic start of Intellect™ system, instead of starting the standard Windows OS shell is used in cases, when access to the basic PCs of the video surveillance system need to be restricted: to prevent start of various applications, file copying and deletion, operations with Windows OS and other non-standard PC operations.

In cases where Startup is set for launching instead of Windows OS, the Intellect™ system will start downloading after Windows OS, instead of Explorer. This makes start of various applications installed in a PC, and operations with the program dialog boxes, inaccessible for a user.

Attention!

Configuration of the local security policy is required for full disabling of UAC in the Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 OS – see the OS settings for correct operation of Remote Admin Workstation or Server section.

To set up Intellect™ software automatic startup bypassing the standard Windows OS (Explorer), the following string parameters of the Windows OS registry are to be modified:

Registry section: HKEY_LOCAL_ MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\.

Folder: Winlogon.

Parameter: Shell.

Default parameter value: Explorer.exe.

Required parameter value: entire path to the Intellect™ software startup file.

For instance, to set up Intellect™ system automatic start for configuration of the Server, the “Shell” parameter is to be identified as: “C:\ Program Files\Intellect\intellect.exe”.

To set up Intellect™ system automatic start for configuration of the Remote Client, the “Shell” parameter is to be identified as: “C:\Program Files\Intellect\slave.exe”.

If the rules of safety of distributed network, a part of which the configured PC is, require that the PC be authorized in the domain, Windows OS may be configured to start without requesting the name (login) and password of the user, who is registered in the domain of the distributed network. This procedure requires assigning a name (login) and a password of the user, which will be used for the PC authorization in the domain by default. To set up Windows OS start without user name (login) and password request, change the following string parameters of the Windows OS registry:

Registry section: HKEY_LOCAL_ MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\.

Folder: Winlogon.

#ParameterDefault parameter valueRequired parameter value
1AutoAdminLogon01
2DefaultUserNameOne of the registered user names (logins).User name (login) for authorization in the domain.
3DefaultPasswordIf parameter does not exist, it is to be created.User name for authorization in the domain.

Registry parameters are edited either using the Tweaki.exe utility (recommended), or manually. Setup of Intellect™ system automatic startup with the Tweaki.exe utility is shown in Tweaki.exe utility for advanced setup of the Intellect software system.

Basic information required for manual system registry editing is outlined in the Working with Windows OS registry section.
