Updating Axxon PSIM™ software

If you install Axxon PSIM software on computer where an earlier version is used, then installation will be in the updating mode.

To update Axxon PSIM software, do the following:

1. Unpack the installation kit as described in Getting ready for Axxon PSIM installation; the destination folder will show the contents of the kit.
   
2. Run the setup.exe file to start the Axxon PSIM software installation procedure.
   As a result the dialog box of choosing language is displayed.
3. Choose the language of Axxon PSIM software installation and click Install.
    
   As a result the Type of installation dialog box is displayed.
   
4. Choose the type of installation needed.

5. To log all installation events, set the Enable full installation log checkbox.

   Note

   While installing and uninstalling the software events are logged topsim.log and uninstall.log correspondingly. To collect log-files, the Support.exe tool is to be used (see The utility for collecting configuration data on servers and RWS for the Technical Support section).
6. Click the Next button.
   The Selecting components for installation dialog box is displayed.
   

7. Set the checkboxes next to the components that are to be installed.

   Note

     All offered components are recommended to be installed.

8. Click the Install button.
   The selected prerequisites and drivers will be installed. 

   Attention!

   If Axxon PSIM is updated to a version whose second and/or third number is larger than that of the currently installed version (for example, from version 1.0.1 to 1.0.2, or 1.1 to 1.2), compatibility is lost with industry-specific vertical solutions built for old versions. This is why, during the installation process, you are asked to remove industry-specific vertical solutions.
   
   To remove industry-specific vertical solutions that are installed on the computer, select Yes. Otherwise, problems can occur when starting Axxon PSIM after update.

   
   When prerequisites and drivers are installed, the dialog box of Axxon PSIM update is displayed.
   

9. Click the Next button.
   The dialog box of the type of update is displayed.
   

10. Select one of the offered types of update. The types of update are described in the table below:

    The types of update	Description
    Save system settings	Use of settings chosen for installation of an earlier version
    Configure system settings	Switch to step-by-step system configuration. Step-by-step configuration is described in Installation of Axxon PSIM™ software as a Server/Remote administrator workplace section

11. Click the Next button.
    When the system is configured, installation of Axxon PSIM software starts.
    

    Note

    Error of driver installation for the FX4 card can occur while the Axxon PSIM software update on the Windows 7 SP1 operating system without Internet connection. To eliminate this error install the following missing Windows updates:

12. As a result the Update Complete dialog box is displayed.
    

13. Click the Finish button.

    Note

    Then the Axxon Driver Pack will be installed.

    
    The Installation complete dialog box is displayed. It contains the information about Axxon PSIM components mode (installed or not).
    

14. Click the Finish button.
    The dialog box offering to restart the computer is displayed.
    
    Restarting the computer is required to correctly complete the Axxon PSIM installation. If choose not to restart your computer now, you will need to do it yourself after installing Axxon PSIM.

Axxon PSIM software is now updated.
