General information
You can add IP devices to the system using the IP Device Discovery Wizard. To open the IP Device Discovery Wizard, click on the Add device link at the end of the Server device list.
The IP Device Discovery Wizard interface includes:
- Automatic device search.
- Manual entry of device data.
- Adding devices to the configuration.
- Bulk adding devices using .CSV files (see Bulk creation of IP devices).
Automatic search for IP devices
IP devices search
To start searching for devices, click the Search button. While searching, a progress bar will be displayed.
To stop devices search at any time, click the Stop button.
The search results are color-coded based on the status of the device.
Color of video camera icon | Description |
---|---|

Note
- Since multicast packets are used for device search, the search results may not contain the Servers and devices from other subnets.
- If you click the IP address, you will jump to the device web interface.
Filtering IP device search results
Search results can be filtered in two ways:
- By status. To hide devices with a certain status, deselect the relevant checkbox.
- By vendor, model or IP address. To do this, use the Filter field. For example, this filters the Sony devices.
In addition, you can filter cameras from a subnet.
Manual input of device data
If an IP device is not shown in the search results (because it is located on a different subnet or the connection with it is temporarily lost), you can add it manually. To do this, you need to select the type of IP device to be added, specify the IP address and connection port of the device, and select the vendor and model in the area with a neutral background located under the list with automatic search results.
You can also specify the vendor and model of the device using the search in the input field.
If the device's IP address, Port, Vendor, Username and Password are set, the device Model can be automatically detected by clicking the
button.Adding devices to the configuration
To add an IP device to a configuration:
- select a mode for adding the device to the configuration;
- set the device settings, if necessary;
- the device is added to the configuration.
Modes for adding devices to the configuration
Three modes are available for adding a device to a configuration. These are described in the following table.
Device addition mode | Description | |
---|---|---|
1 | Keep current settings | The IP device is added to the configuration with the current settings, as specified in the web interface |
2 | Start with default settings | The IP device is added to the configuration with the default settings (the default settings are determined by Axxon One itself). Adding a device in this mode will change the current settings of the device specified in the web interface |
3 | Start with parameters | The IP device is added to the configuration with the settings that have been previously specified for a device of the same model in the configuration. Select a device of the same model (the "template device") in the list. Only devices of the same model are shown in the list of search results for choosing the template device. Parameters that will be set according to the template device: firmware, video stream settings, buffering settings, Other settings (see The Camera object), and Other settings for Microphone and Speaker objects, if these are configured for the template device. This mode is best when multiple cameras of the same model are in use at a site. If this is the case, we advise to:

Configuring IP device settings
When adding a device, you can immediately set several configuration options, such as:
vendor and model.
- login and password.
ID and object name.
Note
- An ID may contain: numbers, Latin letters and the "_" sign. Once the device is created, the ID cannot be changed.
- In the Object Tree, added devices will be sorted by ID.
- archive selection and the recording parameters (see Configuring recording to an archive):
- No—camera is linked to the archive, no recording.
- Always—continuous recording.
- On motion (default)—for the camera you are adding, either an embedded motion detection will be automatically created (see Embedded Detection Tools), or a VMD tool (see Configuring VMD). An automatic rule will also be created for recording to the specified archive (see Automatic Rules). By default, recording stops when an event detection is finished.
Note
- When creating a new device, the pre-alarm time interval for video footage recording is automatically set to 3 seconds (see Configuring recording to an archive).
- The embedded motion detection will be created automatically only for certain video camera models. For information about support for embedded motion detection, see the list of supported devices, the Analytics column. The embedded motion detection is configured through the web interface of a specific video camera. In other cases, a VMD tool will be created.
- device location coordinates in the format 53.212558; 50.204991 (coordinates are used when adding a video camera to the map, see Adding video cameras and changing size of their icons on the map).
Adding devices
During a single configuration change, you can add a single device or all devices listed in the search results (other than devices for which compatibility is not guaranteed). To add one device, click the button. To add all devices, click the Add all button.
Note
Note that if you add all IP devices at the same time, the same mode and settings will be applied to all of them.
To remove a device from the search results, click the
button. If you set no individual access parameters while adding hardware, a dialog window appears for setting unified access parameters.
Next, the device is added to the configuration.
When you add a device to the system, the Default permissions will be applied, which are configured for each role (see Configuring user permissions).
Removing IP devices
To remove IP devices, select one or more objects in the hardware tree by left-clicking (while holding down the Ctrl key) and click the Delete button.
