CamMonitor.ocx is an ActiveX component (see more about ActiveX in the Microsoft documentation https://support.microsoft.com/), which is a complete analogue of the Video surveillance monitor interface object. It is used to control the cameras, view the archive, etc.

CamMonitor can be used as an alternative to the Video surveillance monitor in the Operator protocol and Incident manager interface objects. Which component is used to display video is determined by the settings of these objects:

  1. The Settings panel of the Operator protocol object
  2. The Settings panel of the Incident manager object

CamMonitor is also used in the Event ViewerMap, and Captions search interface objects.

CamMonitor has specific access rights settings:

  • the permissions of the default user are applied firsthand (see Setting up the default user);
  • if the default user is not specified, the permissions of the last user in the list of user rights are used;
  • if the user logs into Axxon PSIM with their login and password, the permissions assigned to this user will be applied.

Note the following specifics of CamMonitor (ActiveX) permissions:

  • when you restrict user rights, it does not hide buttons in CamMonitor, it only limits the functionality of these buttons;
  • when different user logs in, the permissions do not switch immediately, it is required to restart Axxon PSIM: for example, if Axxon PSIM was launched with default user rights, then for the operator to log in and user their permissions, it is necessary to restart Axxon PSIM and specify operator's login and password at launch;
  • if the cameras are registered on the Server and are displayed in CamMonitor on the Remote Client, then the Remote Client will use the permissions of the user on the Server, not the user authorized on the Remote Client. The exceptions are Map and Captions search interface objects.
